See in 2006 Reggie had an injured ankle in the Cleveland game. So they used him as a decoy for the majority of the first 5-6 games. He finally got healthy and his ankle got rolled in the Ravens game. So he was limited then and he had an injured knee in the 2nd half of last season. So all in all I am fine with Reggie. The only thing I had a problem with about him was his choosing not to come do condition work with the TEAM last offseason. He seemed too Hollywood and not focused on the team. But he seemed to correct that this year so hopefully we will see a big upswing in his game!!

The only thing bogus about those stats is that most people do not choose to accept them. They are real, they are not made up. Some people must be seeing Reggie's performance thus far with rose-colored glasses. It's a lot of smoke but no fire.
And as far as Addai and MJD being more traditional in their styles. They're both just as good in the passing game as Reggie is. Just because they don't decoy at slot receiver doesn't mean they can't catch the ball out of the backfield and make magic as well as he can.
And I don't hate Reggie. I think he's a good kid, I'm just simply tired of hamstringing the offense as a whole so that we can include him in the game plan. I understand trying to get what you've paid for, but at some point you just have to realize that even that really big play is maybe a twice a season thing and not worth making sure Reggie gets his touches. I'm just simply saying out loud what everyone is fearing. That he is overrated and not worth the price. Even If I was wrong in expecting him to be a feature back, that's beside the point now. What any of the supporters fail to realize, yet keep harping on is Reggie's explosiveness, his status as a threat or as a weapon. He's not even that. And even if that's what he was drafted for, he has not lived up to that expectation either. The long and the short of it is, he hasn't lived up to many expectations, his own included. Yet people will not acknowledge that even his "weapon" status is in question.
Again, I hope he proves me wrong. I'll eat my crow. The question is. For all those who hate what I'm saying... will you eat yours if I turn out to be right? If this time next year Reggie has another mediocre season behind him, not the result of injuries, just inability to adjust to the pro game, will his unwavering supporters eat their crow? We'll see I guess.
And I'm sorry, but it's not about one person. It's about the entire offense to me. As I said above, it is the insistence that Reggie get his touches that has done more harm than good to this offense, especially last season. It's not an attack on him, it's an observation that he either needs to make the most of his opportunities, or accept an even more limited role. Either way we're screwed if he doesn't produce. We either try and get our money's worth and he doesn't provide the yardage and the scores we need. Or we realize that he can't do it, limit his role as a result, then he's really overpaid. Ultimately, he better get it done this year. I think we can all agree on that.

Who cares about fans outside the Saints nation. This is between us, but I guess your not getting enough support here so you need outside venues. I won't eat crow until Reggies contract is over or he's been traded. The stats may not be bogus, but it is bogus to put everything into just those stats. I think more than anything he hasn't lived up to your expectations, I wonder if the coaches are satisfied. Because in the end, it's really those guys who determine if he's been effective or not. All we can do is debate opinion.

Well bygkev, from what I read the majority of the outside world agrees with us. That Reggie wasn't drafted to be the everydown back. He was drafted to be a oppositions nightmare. Someone who the opposing team has to know where he is EVERY single down. What I want to know is where the stats show on him being a decoy for the first 4 or 5 games. Stats don't show everything.

Im getting tired of the anti Reggie posts too bygkev
If Reggie is such a bust why don't all you haters go try out for the team? Then you can show all of us how RB in the NFL should be played otherwise shut the hell up.
Whether you think he is a bust or just been disappointing this subject has long since grown past being in old. This has become an obsession with some of you guys and if you get over it then it is an obsession and you need therapy.

That's was his only problem. He was trying to do it by himself. I'm glad Reggie has turned a new leaf and going to train here. I hope this works out for him and the Saints. His production has been hindered so I don't hold that against him. He will get his.

No actually, I didn't put that link up there to get outside support. I was well aware that most of the posts disagreed with me. It's called being objective and allowing adverse opinions. Something not so welcome on these boards.

82 I respect your opinion but that is what it is your opinion, you are not going to change my mind as I am not going to change yours.
But
As a Saints fans you have to realize you a going to be met with resistance on this subject, does not make it un-welcome but it is going to be unpopular. but you knew that...right

Word... disagreement is fine, if no one disagreed, something would be wrong. It's just that sometimes people seem to immediately dismiss a statement simply because it's negative.

What is with all of the irrational rage towards a contrary view? If the evidence is saying Reggie needs to step up this year, what is wrong with pointing that out? Saintsfan 82 is stating the obvious and for whatever reason (blind loyalty, fragile ego, pack mentality, etc.) some posters here responded to him out of pure emotion.
I understand fan is short of fanatic and I know we are all fans here, but I hope this isn't a "fanatic" board. IMO fanaticism is a degraded form of fan. Fanaticism is immune to facts and evidence. Maybe my standards are too high, but what about intelligent football conversation? By intelligent I mean conversing with the idea that my mind can be changed if the facts warrant it.
Most website threads are just one big pat on every one's back. The thread starts by saying "So and So is going to be a beast blah, blah, blah", posters will respond by saying "yeah so and so is going to dominate, blah, blah, blah, beast, blah, blah, blah." The thread turns into a big pile of nothing. But everyone leaves happy b/c their opinions are validated. Whether they are intelligent, thoughtful opinions means nothing.
I know you all are tired of the Reggie Bush posts. Okay, let's have some pie-in-the-sky post about Shockey's "beastliness" or our future #1 ranked D. I know we could have the umpteenth post about who we will play in the Superbowl. Oh well. . . .
Like I said maybe I am too idealistic here . . . .
