OJ Mayo reportedly took thousands of dollars of cash and other gifts while at USC and in high school. What it it with USC and paying off its athletes, (Reggie Bush)? What an embarrassment. Even if they turn out to be untrue, it can't be good for a universities reputation to be constantly under investigation for its athletes taking money. Another reason why i love UCLA.

The full investigation coverage was reported by ESPN, here is the link.

Let's see, Yahoo revealed similar probe on Reggie Bush and to date there hasn't been anything done by NCAA other than on the civil court. However, OJ Mayo's situation is a little bit different as he was himself who received the gifts. As we all know before he even stepped his foot on the campus, we all suspect that he may destroyed the program that USC was trying to build. They already lost 2 scholarships based on their APR by NCAA and now they may even lose more in addition post season banned. NCAA probably add TV bans as well.

Well, the letters "O"  "J" are not the taste the of LA anymore and I guess you can add "Mayo" to the list.

He played high school ball here in Cincinnati for a while and I can assure you that it was simply embarassing the way the community fawned all over him.  He had corruptible written all over him.

He had corruptible written all over him.Let's see the list:

1. He was caught with with marijuana possession and yet the West Virginia's magistrate dismissed the charge.

2. He recruited himself to USC and based on this interview of Tim Floyd, his family can't afford cell phone bills. Now we know why he insisted to go USC, not because of the national exposure but to have an expense accounts.

3. During a pick up game last summer, he punched Daniel Hackett's jaw which was broken in 3 pieces. But later they changed the story. Hackett was out for 6 weeks including their first game of the season in which they were double digit upset by Mercer at home.

In 2000, Rico Hines bashed Matt Barnes with a chair during a pick up game. At least Steve Lavin suspended Rico Hines with 2 games suspension, albeit one of them was an exhibition game.

4. He was sighted at front row seats at a Lakers game in which he had to paid back $460 for the face value of the tickets. If he were an average fan, those tickets worth at least $3000.
