The Louisiana legislature will debate a bill to allow concealed handguns on Louisiana college campuses.
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU head football coach Les Miles, men's basketball coach Trent Johnson, and baseball coach Paul Mainieri have all come out against a proposal before the state legislature that would allow for concealed handguns on college campuses
This is a very stupid idea and would only increase campus violence. This would hurt recruiting also.

Want to explain how it will hurt recruiting?
My personal opinion is let the University set the rule on campus.
I have a carry permit in the state of TN. and since the law has been enacted there have been no illegal shootings by permit holders.
I won't get into a gun debate but there are some hot and heavy ones going on after the VT. shootings.

We have a right as Americans to "Keep and bear arms." To enforce gun control is to take a huge step toward Communism.
Think...They outlaw guns, who gives up theirs? Good guys or bad guys???
Guns don't kill people; people with bad intentions kill people.
I have guns and I've never killed anyone, but if someone broke into my house with a gun I'd be ready for self defense.
Anyway, don't feed us these Communistic ideas, or we're liable to barf them back in your face!

I'm sure coaches will tell recruits and their parents our campus isn't safe.

If those players/players parents are that jelly spined, why would you want them?

Wrong!
Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people.
I dare anyone to tell me I can no longer have a firearm. The first gun I ever owned and used was given to me by the U.S. Government, I'll be danged if they'll take one I purchased away from me.

The issue isn't gun control it's if guns are allowed on campus.
The fact most college students are not mature eneough to be around booze, women, and marijuania. Just throw in a loade handgun and let the party really begin. There is a reason concealed weapons are not allowed into bars and sporting events!
I am not saying all students but your only as mature as the sorriest drunk loser of a roommate. Guns, drugs, booze and partially clad women sounds like a sat. night on south beach. Throw in burning chairs and it could be Michigan State.

F1rst,
I realize this but it's part of the point. Surely you don't believe that there are no students on campus carrying firearms do you?
VT scared alot of people nationwide. You just want to know if we should make it legal......Just because a bill has yet to be passed doesn't mean it's not already happening. I can't say I blame some of these college kids these days for packing heat.

Even if they pass the bill, would any of the campuses (campi?) actually allow it?

P.S.
And if were primarily speaking of the South you know as well as I that a good majority of people from the South grow up with and know the responsibilities of owning and using a firearm.

They already allow concealed guns in the state of Utah.
Maybe its just because they are all Mormons, but have you heard of a lot of violent killings in Utah?

I can remember two student athletes that were shot and killed, one from Kentucky and one from Miami, sorry can't remember their names. Responsibility is a fluid thing, the more you drink the less you have.
A better question would you trust Ryan Perilloux (sp) with a loaded gun?
Sorry Knut open wound and all.

Rah,
That surprises me because there's nothing to do in Utah except get drunk.

They probably NEED those guns to fend off mountain lions & such!
(I remember talking about this before - If I remember correctly, you CAN carry on one of the Utah campuses. I think it was an urban campus, too.)
