Man there is no one out there that deserves to be mentioned in same breath as the sandman.  And every year some fantasy tool crowns a new closer as the best....first it was Rocker, Sasaki, Kim, Lidge, Gagne, Issy, Mesa, Alfonsaca, Wagner, Benetiez...and on and on and on.  They come and go...all but Rivera

Year after Year..regular season, post season, this dude dominates in the most volatile and pressure packed posistion in sports.

I'm not much of a Yankee's fan, but yes I must agree that this guy is amazing.  If it's nothing else, his consistency is what makes me like him so much and wish he was playing for my team.

If Smoltz stayed as the Braves closer he would easily be worth mentioning along side Mo. Smoltz is overall just better than MO as well. I will agree though he is amazing and the best closer of all time.

But Qpappa that would be a mute point though, because IMO he's one of the greatest Braves' starting pitchers...and he wouldn't have had that opportunity if he was a closer.  Plus he didn't start closing until after he came back from injury.

How do you figure that smoltz is better than mo?  As a closer? Not a chance

No way, not even close.  Hells Bells is a decent tune, but AC/DC is an average band at best.  The only thing interesting about AC/DC is to guess how much moose-knuckle Brian Johnson will be showing.  Enter Sandman is an absolutely rocking tune.

alargedude,

Did you actually say that Metallica is better than AC/DC??? The sad state of what passes for music now days puzzles me. Play 3 chords and scream, it's a hit. There are a few good bands today (DMB comes to mind) but most of it is crap. Half of todays music is just ripped off from callsic rock songs (that is you rap and country). I will give you (old) Metallica is OK. But to compare them to a great band like AC/DC is just insane. And AC/DC isn't even in the top 10 as far as bands from the "classic rock" era.

you guys totally missed the whole point.

Hells Bells is the song they play when Hoffman comes in to save a game.

Sandman in Mo's nickname.
