You are absolutely correct. The difference was that Oklahoma matched up better with Missouri. I believe overall, Missouri was a better team. But matched on the field, Oklahoma was just better suited to win between the two teams. Occasionally, that happens.

I guess Kansas beating Va tech means nothing...

I guess Missouri putting an absolute pouding on Arkansas ( Yeah the same arkansas team that beat 16 ranked LSU) means nothing.

By the way....that Gator defense looked great against Michigan in the bowl game.

ShaunyBoy,

How can someone come out in May and say that Florida and Georgia are better than anyone in the Big 12 (Texas, OU, or Mizz).  Where's the proof?

Exactly.  Saying Florida and Georgia are better is like me saying, "Well I think Oklahoma and Missouri are better than anyone in the SEC."

Sorry for the double post, and I'm not trying to be a homer, but Iowa State isn't the only thing wrong with the Big 12 North.  They're on the way up and I think Gene Chizik will make the program rise unless somebody else takes him from here.  You should really focus on Nebraska and Kansas State.  Nebraska is coming off of their worst defensive season in history, while KSU went into the tank in the second half last year.

There it is! And THANK YOU, BurntOrange!

Also, I look forward to the years ahead of Texas/Kansas rivalries in basketball. I think that continues to be one of the great duals in college hoops.

Obviously no one knows for sure how good anyone is at this point in the year, however good assumptions can be made based on the past years performance against qulity opponents, current roster, and the coach. It was based on those three factors that i made my reply. Florida and Georgia did better against good teams last year, have better returning players as well as better recruiting classes, and have the best coaches.

Grading coaches is not that easy. When Florida and Georgia get the low hanging fruit for recruits, how hard is THAT to coach? YES, they work hard at recruiting. However, consider Kansas and Missouri and the rebuilding job THOSE coaches have done in that environment. Then, go out and recruit good athletes others have overlooked, or they just are full at that position. Then, coach THOSE kids to play competitive NCAA football.

I'd stack up KU and MU coaches with Florida and Georgia any day of the week. (Oh, did we mention inferior facilities?)

No, we do not know how good any of these teams will be come fall. We do have some past history, and we can see it's pretty even across the board. I'd say the only huge disappointment year after year is the Big 10, NOT the Big 12.

Everyone knows the Big Ten is a colossal disappointment. I doubt anyone but Ohio State fans argue there.

It's hard to say that with the talent in the SEC but with schools like Mizzou and Kansas up and coming and the reloading every year of Oklahoma and Texas, I'd say we have an arguement.  Now if the Huskers could get it going...
