I know its a little early still, but ESPN has come up with its first set of power ranking for next year.  It has us at 9.  Last year the Giants were 9th...hmmmm

Overall, I think that these rankings are pretty accurate.  The only thing that I might change is the Browns at 8th in front of the Seahawks who did nothing in the offseason to bolster their team that we beat last year.  I think that 8th or 9th is about right until we can prove that our D is better and that we can beat the Steelers.

Go Brownies!!!!!!

First of all, GO BROWNIES!!!!  It's about freakin' time the Browns get some freakin' respect!!!! Number 9, it feels good to be at number nine and the start of the season.

On the other hand, who in the hell did a power ranking in which the Giants arent' number one??  Not only are they not number one, but number six?!?!?!  I see the Patriots love affair continues.  I just can't wait until they (N.E.) fall on their faces this year, because they don't have any tapes to help them out!!!!

JYD, it's a new season, so I can't complain about the Giants being 6th. I'd probablt put the Pats at #1 too followed by the Colts. I think they will do pretty good without cheating I don't think they cheated last year beyond the 1st game. I think the 9 spot is about right for us, we can't be ahead of the Steelers until we beat them on the field instead of on paper.

Power rankings,  while being interesting and all..... mean nothing this early in the year  (before the season!)   with last year (us being at the bottom of the pile)  being a pretty good testimate to that.

Let's just beat the pants off of our conference rivals,  and play one game at a time with the rest,  and we'll be alright!!!

JYD,

Sorry if this is a re-post, but for some reason there was an error transmitting my last post.  Essentially, I agreed with your assessment that the Patriots were over-valued.  They still belong in the Top 5, in my opinion, but they're certainly not No. 1.

If you look at the deterioration of their roster (three cornerbacks, number two receiver, aging line backing corp) and include the way that the offensive line struggled versus the Giants pass rush, you have to think that they've got some question marks on their team.  They addressed many of those needs through the draft, but it's not reasonable to think they'll come in immediately and/or make the same impact as the players they're replacing.

I also don't think that the Cowboys belong in the Top 5, and they especially don't belong in front of the Giants.  I had my own personal Top 10, which went something like this:

  1. San Diego Chargers
  2. Indianapolis Colts
  3. New York Giants
  4. New England Patriots
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars
  6. Pittsburgh Steelers
  7. Dallas Cowboys
  8. Cleveland Browns
  9. Green Bay Packers
  10. New Orleans Saints

Again, I apologize if this is a re-post.

We play 5 of the teams in the top 8. IF we win and lose the games by this comparative ranking, that means and 11-5 or 10-6 season, depending on whether we split with Pittsburgh. I'll take that! That gets us to the playoffs where anything can happen.

You know this might be for another thread all together, but, everyone talks about how we need to see how our defense will be.  We all seem to look past the fact that we had the 12th most sacks in the league last year.  We got good penetration, just need to work on some tackling.  GO BROWNIES!!
