"spygate"? who's dating Tony Romo? Times must be changing because at 26 years old, i'm disgusted with these stupid headlines. I miss the Montana days which was awful as a Patriots fan. I don't even watch ESPN sports center anymore because of this BS. Who cares if a high school basketball player recieved money? I would! I want to hear stats. I want to hear a headline built for men such as "Al Bundy propells Polk High with 4 TD's"
Honestly, I want everyone's opinion on the top stories that will be comming out this year. Last year was Vick, then Romo, then "spygate." what's next? What's the flavor of the month? I don't care if A-Roid is juicing up. I don't care if Tony Romo can't sing. I want to focus on the sports and the accomplishments that these great athletes are achieving. This is a bad attempt of the football press to talk about something in the off season. It seems as though the NFL draft meant nothing and was nothing short of boring. For a true fan of sports in general, I find it more appealing to read an article of a big trade rather than a mediocre safety opening his drunk mouth guaranteeing victory. Sorry people, this is frustrating to me.

i cant really disagree with anything you said. I too, very rarely go to espn.com. I think there writers are absolutely hideous who always write with a hidden agenda. I like good commentary but too much of it is on non sports issues. I'll disagree with you on the juicing thing because i think its related but this comes from a lot of these writers coming up now couldnt hold a job at a conventional newspaper. Even though i dont agree with him a lot i have respect for someone like prisco because he was a beat guy for the jags and has a lot of sources now and if he writes something irresponsible, (which is different that something stupid), he can be held accountable by having such and such a player or coach call him out on it. Like all these page 2 writers on the 4 letter network just throw crap at wall and sees what sticks. Its prett embarassing really

no offense, but if you are 26...*Demo does the math in his head...twice*...How can you miss the Montana days? You was a young man back then, very young, but I guess not too young. I retract that, but, how was the Montana days hard on you as a Pats fan? Just curious, not ripping or flaming. I do agree with what you said about the T Romo bizz, but this is a story worth covering. Anytime a congressman is threatening to hold hearings it is going to be a story. I am sorry it is your favorite team going thru it. If it was mine I would hate it as well.

I agree with everything Scotty said ESPN is the absolute WORST excuse for a media outlet or whatever you want to call it they do have hidden agendas nothing on that site or that network is unbiased it's a joke because the less intelligent fan buys into this stuff that ESPN is selling im just about done talking about spygate it's a joke of a story in a lot of ways yes they cheated yes they were caught but they had their day in court were fined humiliated and put under a microscope that no franchise deserves for the record in response to the cheating allegations they became the first NFL team in HISTORY to go 16-0.
Also Arlen Specter is hardly a congressman he also has a hidden agenda ask this guy anything real about this subject and he will have NO clue whatsoever face it who did "senator" Specter mention the two teams were the Eagles and Steelers oh what a coincidence what better way to stay in office than to garner up a vote by making the people of Pennsylvania believe they were cheated and he looks like a hero this is Politics people the dirtiest of the filthiest people do that stuff and you are plainly naive to say anything different.

I can only agree with you on this subject, Scotty. Tabloids have started to saturate the sports news. I think now a days with all the reality shows that are on the air, ESPN thinks, we as sports fans, want to hear about this crap. My only guess is that ESPN is trying to appeal more to the female demographic. That's just a guess, though. I do miss the old days, where you turned on ESPN and you heard sports. I suppose Dan Patrick knew something when he left. The American people love DRAMA. May God save us from this tyranny that they call ESPN.

Sadly, we as fans only have ourselves to blame for allowing sports coverage to include such BS as Tony Romo's dating life. The 'old days' that you miss were great because there was exactly enough sports coverage to do just that - cover the games, recap the stats, and perhaps allow a pundit to rant for about 30 seconds. What happened was that we all watched/read it! Makes sense, right? Sports fans want sports news, so ratings go higher so ESPN makes more sports shows. Sounds wonderful, except...there's not more substance to talk about. MLB still plays 162 games, there are still only 53 men on an NFL roster (most of the time), and so on and so on.
Seems this is our curse for liking sports too much.
Sigh.
Just scan the headlines, weed out almost everything, and end up reading about 3% of the articles like I do. Oh yeah, and avoid ESPN like the plague.

I agree that the headlines these days suck and that it's become more about the news of the players than it is the stats and games themselves, but if you don't think that Michael Vick (one of the faces of the NFL) being charged with a bunch of counts of malicious animal cruelty offenses should be news...then what planet are you from? Sorry, but I do want to know straight up if Roger Clemens (one of the best pitchers in the history of baseball) is juicing. I agree that all of the crap that's in between (the day in and day out about steroids and spygate) is monotonous, but how can you blame ESPN for doing it? They have a TV station that is strictly geared towards what is happening around pro atheletes! Now, more than ever, idiot players are getting in trouble with the law, and we just end up hearing the same thing over and over again. Give ESPN something good to talk about and I think things might change a little bit.
I didn't even have to click your profile to know that you're a New England fan...

Oh, and if it's more appealing to read about a big trade then why are you posting about and caring about Mike Vick. Don't be a hypocrite...you're just as "in" the big story as everyone else is...
"Will Michael Vick every play in the NFL again?" May 9th, 2008.
