I was looking on the pokes website and found that they have listed the 2008-2009 schedule. It goes as follows . . . .

Aug 30th  OSU @ Washington State    in Seattle, WA

Sep 6th    Houston @ OSU

Sep 13th  Missouri State @ OSU

Sep 27th  Troy @ OSU (we owe them a beat down)

Oct  4th   Texas A&M @ OSU

Oct  11th  OSU @ Missouri

Oct 18th  Baylor @ OSU

Oct 25th  OSU @ Texas

Nov 1st  Iowa State @ OSU

Nov 8th  OSU @ Texas Tech

Nov 15th  OSU @ Colorado

Nov 29th ou @ OSU

Not a bad schedule. 7 home games should help us. 6 of those home games should be wins. The 7th will be tough. We need to beat OU this time. We should be capable of beating Washington St. So a 8 win season is very doable. More would be better.

I say 8-4 will be the record for this year, but my expections are higher than that of 8-4. The first 4 games are very winnable, we should win in against Wash. St. because of the coaching change, my upset for the year will be OU at Stillwater, but for the most part I would really like to beat the Longhorn, get a lead and hang on to it.

i think we can be 6-1 after the Baylor game. The one loss against Mizzou. I dont think we can go in there and win. The Texas game is a toss up. Although last time we went there, we got destroyed. The Tech game is a toss up too. We should of lost to them last year. Iowa St no problem. We should handle them. The OU game is obviously a toss up. Then that leaves us with Colorado. They kinda scare me. Not sure why, but maybe it has something to do with being on the road.

So after my analysis I am looking at OSU for sure winning 7 and the others could go either way. I guess the Mizzou game could go our way, but their offense is scary. Now this is all based on our mediocre defense. Well they werent even mediocre last year. IF our defense shows up to play this year, we could win 9 games or even more.

I have high hopes for next season but this schedule is tougher than it first appears.

Winning on the road (@WSU) first game of the season is tough. Also don't overlook Houston, Even at home, if we are coming off an upset, we could either be ready to rumble or get blind sided.

Also, on the road at TTech and Colorado back to back is a scary roadtrip.

With our offense, if a defense can be found this spring/fall we could potentially challenge for the conference title. If not, it will be another 7-6 season.

1st Off - really like seeing that the true fans are taking a realistic look at the season and not a bunch of Homers.

I'm also in the 8-4 camp; but here's how I see it-

1) we should be 5-0 going to Columbia; but unless we have our timing down, Wash St can upset us.  We've done well on the road in the far west so maybe this will be a great catapult to the season -but don't overlook the Cougs.   I really don't think we'll have too many problems with Houston, Troy, of Mizzou St as long as there is a defense and no big injuries.   I think we'll destroy Troy due to motivation.   Don't overlook A&M, they have a great headcoach and I think people underestimated Fran's ability to recruit, but not a great coach.  We should win but A&M has a real coach now.

2) Mizzou - lost some talent on both sides of the ball; this is a toss up so I'll go with the home team, but this one will be winnable.  We'll see how Mizzou stacks up their first game of the season against Illinois which is almost a carbon copy.

3) Mid-stretch: Baylor at Stillwater (W) then Texas in Austin (L) and Iowa State (W).  Baylor and Iowa St just don't have the talent to come in and beat us - you have to be top 20 to do that.   Texas at home has way too much talent but we're finally catching up, just not next year even with defensive help, we won't be mature enough but will be a great game.

4) Home-Stretch: This is where it gets ugly if we're not healthy.   At Tech (L).   The home team no matter how good or how bad wins; but the game is always a great one.   I never count this out for the home team.   Tech will be slightly improved but if we have any defense, I think we'll be the better team, just we haven't completely exercised the demons on the road; think A&M from this year, not Nebraska.     At Colorado (W) - this late in the season and as thin of talent at Colorado, I think any early success the Buffs have will have faded at this point and they'll be unmasked.    Home against OU - this will be a toss up and think an "L" as Stoops is a great coach (for the conference) but will be a great game and we may shock OU.   Can't believe that OU will continue to keep dodging the bullets of player academic issues, the law, recruiting violations, and the negative impact of losing in BCS games.   I think OU will be down a bit next year (9-3) and a Holiday Bowl bound team.   This game will either put us in the Cotton or in the Alamo.

Overall - I think it's 8-4; but I said 7-5 this year and outside of missing the Troy game to finish 6-6; I was about right.   I had Tx, OU, Georgia, A&M and Neb.    We destroyed Nebraska but lost to Troy and didn't see Kansas coming.    On the other hand, we mostly played very tight games and could easily be next year's Kansas; Texas will be better if healthy, OU will be a little bit down (vulnerable), A&M will be better but we have them at home; Tech will be better and may be the team to ecclipse us to the top; and Baylor is still trying to figure out to catch up talent wise.   So I'll say we'll finish 3rd in the South (Tx, Tech, OSU, OU, A&M, Baylor) and probably 4th in the conference as I think it will be Mizzou from the North and everyone else sadly lacking around the 7-5 to 5-7 mark beating everyone else and getting pummeled by the South.   Kansas is one and done, Colorado will be improved, Nebraska should be bowl eligible again, and K-State will be about the same (talented but not deep).   Iowa State still has a ways to go so we are lucky to have them on our schedule.

Aug 30th  OSU @ Washington State   (W) 1-0  --  I think with the combination of their coaching change, our defense's new attitude(hopefully), and if the timing of our offense is down, we'll win. That is a lot, but I'm hopeful it'll happen. Wazzu won't be a pushover by a long shot, but I think we can win.

Sep 6th    Houston @ OSU  (W) 2-0  --  We owe them some payback for our loss down there a couple years ago. They're usually a solid team, but have a new coach coming in. Will t hey be the same? Who knows. We can't overlook them, but we have tons more talent then we did last time we played them.

Sep 13th  Missouri State @ OSU  (W) 3-0  --  Shouldn't be too hard, but never over look anyone. As long as the players are excited and ready to play, it should be a blow out.

Sep 27th  Troy @ OSU  (W) 4-0  --  We owe them some payback more than Houston. They embarrassed us last year on national television, and made us look like chumps. The players should be looking for a beat down in this one, and they should produce it.

Oct  4th   Texas A&M @ OSU  (W) 5-0  --  This could be viewed as a payback game after the last 2 years. Last year in College Station, we had a double digit lead, and blew it. Two years ago in Stillwater, we fought back, took it to OT, and lost on a blocked extra point. Late in the 4th, we had more than once a chance to stop them on 4th and long to win it, but couldn't make a stop. We always blow a lead against these guys, but I think that stops this year.

Oct  11th  OSU @ Missouri  (L) 5-1  --  Coming in 5-0, I think this might be closer than most people will think. I just seriously doubt we'll go up to their place and win it. Their offense is scary good, and our defense, even with improving, will probably be a little over-matched. But, you never know. Our offense will be the reason it could stay close.

Oct 18th  Baylor @ OSU  (W) 6-1  --  Baylor won't beat us at home. They got us a few years ago in Waco, but they won't win here. Especially with the talent we'll have. Never take a conference opponent lightly though. They took OU to overtime IN Norman a couple years ago.

Oct 25th  OSU @ Texas  (L) 6-2  --  I'm never picking us against Texas until I see our defense hold on to a lead. And even though we keep it close at home, they seem to blow us out down in Austin. I think we'll actually keep it closer this year, but they'll still pull it out.

Nov 1st  Iowa State @ OSU  (W) 7-2  --  Basically the same as Baylor. Although I think they will improve under Gene Chizik. He's a good, solid coach and I think he has them in the right direction. Look for us to struggle with them not this year, but the next year up in Ames.

Nov 8th  OSU @ Texas Tech  (L) 7-3  --  Just can't see us winning down in Lubbock. That is a tough place to play, and an even tougher place to win. It'll be close, no doubt, but we won't win.

Nov 15th  OSU @ Colorado  (W) 8-3  --  This is a tough game for me to pick a win. For some reason playing at Colorado always scares me, and this is no different. They're a solid team, and headed in the right direction. I'm just hoping we have more talent than they do, and that our defense will be even better by this time and put a great effort in.

Nov 29th ou @ OSU  (L) 8-4  --  Trust me, I wanted to pick this as a win. But, being realistic, I just couldn't do it. I know that it's ALWAYS close in Stillwater, But we haven't beaten them in Stillwater the past 2 times, and until we beat them again, I just can't do it. I want to more than anything, because I despise the Sooners. But, I give them their props, and I think they'll win.

I'm predicting an 8-4 season, but our defense MUST step up and make tremendous improvement. And, our offense must maintain what they've accomplished the last two years.

DFW and Pokes 21 did you see the ESPN article about Bobby Reid and Gundy? Looks like another cheap shot by a writer at your program. Take a look at it when you can at ESPN.com. It really sounds like the writer just made it up. As an outsider looks like 9-3 without ya'll upsetting Texas, Missouri or Oklahoma or being upset. A&M, TT, and Colorado are good teams who could win but I think you'll take them with your improved (hopefully) defense. Good luck this year!

Yeah, I read that today too. I don't think that it was made up. I mean why would somebody want to discredit a young athlete...sarcasm. However, i am dissappointed if that is how it all went down. I know from talking with some of the athletes that the o-line didn't like robinson under center and I counldn't figure out why...until now. I think the matter could have been handled better on both sides. And yes the nebraska thing was total crap. I feel for reid and I will keep up with his career. He deserves better than the OSU faithful are/were giving him.

let me tell you something as a persons who is in the sports marketing department almost everyday. Reid never wanted to come to osu, we just lucked out and got the kid, he was injured coming out of high school, big surprise the kid could get hit by a fly and fall over, and everyone pulled is scholarship offer. he has had a bad attuide since arrive on campus like he dersevered the starting job just for showing up, let it be known that woods was twice the qb that bobby was. And as far as the o-line goes they were twice has productive with Zach than Reid. so i say goodbye and so long cry baby, if he's lucky may get to play in canada one day. but the future i see is one day you will be driving through H-Town and your car needs a oil change, you pull over at jiffy lube and bobby reid will be changing your oil.

twodawgs - welcome back!   Really glad we didn't get a boomerang series with you guys now!   Congrats on the 2 sets of Preseason #1!

Yeah, saw the article.   Have to admit that in the off season I'm not as rampant about the sport, lay a bit lower as right now, hockey comes first (Go Stars!).   I keep seeing a lot of strange (IMHO) writings about the Big 12 from outsiders that makes me wonder what they're looking at.  Texas #8?    Should talk to the Alumni - they are thinking 9-3 right now; Tech - most people are thinking push over but what OSU did this year for Juco raiding to shore up the defense, Tech did last year and it may pay off as Tech only loses Danny Amoeba the possession receive-a.   I think Tech will surprise a lot of teams next year and think they may be the best in South.   OU - strong but can they hit the jackpot and stay healthy this year and will their incoming freshmen make the same impact as last year?  Doubtful.   I think they'll be down a bit.   Texas A&M - think Mike needs a year to put together the program.

If ever there was a year for Missouri to win the conference, this is it.   For Nebraska to be relevant in Big 12 Football again, here it is.   For Colorado to wear the glass slipper, here it is.    FOR OSU TO GO TO THE COTTON BOWL OR HIGHER _ HERE IT IS!   Yup, I think it'll be a toss up but in the end think it'll be OU, Tech, Texas, OSU, A&M.   Missouri will be the North champion but think everyone else will be around 7-5 (Nebraska, Colorado, K-State, and yes, the glass slipper will be broken for Kansas).

Cowcane-great one!   I need an oil change!   Where do I go?

Mrsooner,

I am currently an OSU student, and I have worked along side several OU students whose arrogance and ignorance blew my mind...

That being said, I am able to correlate my previous statement to you. Every time there is a decent discussion on one of our boards, you stick your ugly head in and talk trash with no relevance to life on this planet. Please go away....

And no, with the way Reid handled our offensive strategy, I don't think I would let him anywhere near as intricate as a combustion engine, especially the one attached to my truck.
