HEY GUYS, i know alote of negativity has been looming since the draft(especially from me) but im over it, i mean what are we gonna do? change teams?? HELL-O NO? SO we need to get over it and look at the good and not the bad. balmer is our future Julius Peppers but with a better attitude, did you see his press conference, this guys is gonna be a great lockerroom guy and player. we also got two future o-line starters so thats huge. and every other guy we got is gonna make an impact inout future. i know we didnt get that wr we all wanted but maybe they have bigger plans(Roy Williams) for our future. we are getting a great foundation to be a winning team again. im exited about martz and our new players from the draft as well as free agency. im over it, are you??

I wasn't going to reply to anyone today, To lazy and tired, but since everyone on here are my "friends" I figured heck join the rest of the smart fans. I liked the draft, only skeptical spots were the late rounds, and i have liked the free agency moves as well. Others to consider, Adam Archuleta just got released, and Shaun Alexander is looking for a home (could be a great 3rd down/gol line guy) also he is a really great locker room voice. I see the team doing well, like i have posted before, they might get to 8-8 and heck could suprise me and do even better then that if that o-line holds up.. Although there is rumor that they might name Sullivan or Hill the starter.. my feeling is its meant to be motivation for Smith to come in prepared and healthy with a good attitude to win games, and prove himself. I still think he is the best option the Niners got right now. He isn't Steve Young or Joe Montana, but he is better then a Tim Rattay or Steve Bono.

I think this is going to be Alex's and Vernon's breakout year cause he'e quietly on the hot-seat too

niner4life491,
Its kinda sad to say but I don't think Vernon believes that he is on the hotseat, I believe he has an ego big enough to think the 9ers are actually on the hot seat. I think that if the 9ers don't start using him as the weapon that he is he might demand for a trade.

Popalpo, great minds may be a stretch but you two surely think alike.j/k. I thought we could have drafted a WR in the second when they were still on the board but I was never mad at them for drafting our 2 biggest areas of need with the first two picks.

Yeah, as easy as it is to look at this draft and say "eh? huh? wha...?", I think it still addressed a lot of future big-time needs. Filling out the depth chart (especially on O-Line, Rachal a good pick) is an even bigger need than WR right now, and this draft addressed that. As exciting as DeSean Jackson (the next Hester) may have been, the fact still remains that the 9ers just haven't been very adept at drafting WR in recent years. A sad, short list:
- Brandon Lloyd - Good hands, but attitude problems & exposed in DC.
- Taylor Jacobs - Nice speed, but injury-prone, product of college system (Florida).
- Jason Hill - Deep threat, but potential-only & zero impact right now.
Don't forget, Battle was a college QB, even though he was drafted as a WR. My only problem with Balmer is this: He's a classic 3-4 middleman body-hog D-Lineman. If Nolan gets canned and his successor goes with a 4-3 (much more popular nowadays), Balmer won't be here for long.

ABSOLUTELY!!,
I am very much over hearing about the draft and what could've or woud've been better for the team. I don't think you can knock this draft until you see how they perform. Many fans are in love with "name players" and being that our Niners didn't draft one,it's expected to hear a lot of grumbling. But the above average fan will know that drafts are graded at the end of the season not before it, and "name" players more times than not amount to nothing but a large salary cap hit. Let's all wait and see, and enjoy watching what I think will be a very much improved team this upcoming year. GO NINERS!!!!!!
