carolina 8800,
One of my closest friends is Black, he went to a high school that was mostly white we played Football together. Went to College and roomed together. We even joined the same fraternity. I guess you can call it racism from other Blacks, then anybody else. In HS such as alpha phi alpha or omega phi psi by adviser from BUS(black United Students) They didn't think it was right as to him assimilating with people not like him. He is know a successful orthopedic surgeon. me and him are still best freinds to this day and I can never understand how people hated him so much with out ever meeting him and from his so called race. I would think you should judge a man by his acts not his color.
Excellent point, gotribes!
But Carolina8800 CANNOT see beyond skin color and DNA.
The problems regarding your friend being persecuted by his own/race culture are well known.
he was called every name Uncle Tom,sellout, whitey lover and many more names. In college he was called a sell out and that he should join a Black Fraternity
If your friend had listened to all those who wanted to drag him down he never would have become a surgeon. Blacks are held down more by their own negative culture than white racism. It is a cancer from within, Don't sell out, don't be an Uncle Tom, You can't make it, Don't be a fool, Strap on a nine, Gotta get paid, Slingin...

1. In number #1 you said it is easier for middle class whites to be devided. Why? I know a lot of middle class whites whose parents were middle class. This statement completely distorts reality. My parents are middle class, they raise me to be middle class, and now I am gonna break against family and class lines? Why?
A larger percentage of minorities than white people are poor. So a larger percentage of minorities understand the roadblocks they face in order to better their situation. Because a smaller percentage of white people have experience with that kind of struggle, a larger percentage of white people attribute the situation poor people are in to character flaws and not environmental conditions.
#2 Many a politician has tried to support vouchers. That means if you want, your child can attend a clean, well kept school in a clean, well kept area. Instead "inner city" leaders cry foul and want public money to be poured into their "inner city" toilet.
So it makes sense to you that if a school is a "toilet" the government should take away that school's ability to improve? Why is it so hard to understand that poor children are born into a complely different set of circumstances than our children? It's obvious that unless those issues are addressed, the children will not perform to their capabilities. I suppose you believe they already are.
#3 I think racism can come through during the judicial process. Howvever, money corrupts the whole system. The west memphis 3 are still in jail beacuse they were poor white trash.
I stand by my statement. Poor and minorities are detained and incarcerated at a higher rate than the majority. Nobody really cares what you or I think. The facts speak for themselves.
#4 I look down on Black-centric churches the way I do Mormon Polygamist Funamentalists. I was raised to believe something, others were raised to believe other things. Just mind your own congregation.
Extremism from anybody is wrong. It's merely an attempt to divide the majority. The conservatives that attacked Reverend Wright are the ones that should start by taking this advice. Obama never "played the race card", he just responded to attacks on himself because of his race. Isn't attacking somebody because of their race known as racism?

His story about his "black friend" has nothing to do with the post......nothing at all. He, like many of you, totally missed the point.
He made no point.

curtisteff, this issue of race is a complex one, consider what we're dealing with here. For instance, I wonder if they think that police in Florida pulled over a bunch of white motorists after the picture of the suspected arsonist was released. "We're are looking for a suspect that fits your description".........doesn't hardly ever happen to white people.

Yup, there sure is. WTF does that have to do with anything? You trying to justify your racism agian, mrj? Why? Most pervs, serial killers, corrupt public officials, hate crime criminals, and crooked cops are white but that doesn't mean that it is ok to look at a white whom you've never met and assume any of these negative things about him. Get it?

ABC News' Karen Travers reports: In what has historically been one of the safest Republican congressional districts in the country, Democrat Travis Childers won the Mississippi special election tonight, beating Republican Greg Davis.
Childers’ win is significant for the Democrats, because it is the third Congressional seat they have picked up from the Republicans in special elections this year. Combined with these recent wins in Republican districts, Childers' success tonight could foreshadow the Democrats’ ability in November to build on its majority in the House and compete in districts that in the past have been considered solid Republican turf.
Sounds to me that the feelings of the congressional election from two years ago have not faded in this country.
