I was thinking today, about the draft, and how we drafted Chris Johnson in the first round. I also thought to myself.. how is the running back situation going to work out this year? Will johnson be our starter at the begining of the season or will LenDale White hold onto it? and what will be chris henrys role this year?
your thought?

Lendale starts
Johnson plays a lot (catching passes out of the backfield, and in the slot, and returns)
Henry only to spell Lendale and in the event of an injury
just my 2 cents...

Titans RB LenDale White is not concerned about losing carries to rookie Chris Johnson and said playing with Johnson will be like playing with former college teammate Reggie Bush. "It gives us a one-two punch," White said in the Tennessean. "After I bang 'em up for so long, you get him in there and he can run by them. At USC, Reggie ran by them and I ran through them. It was a good one-two combination because you had defenses having to prepare for two different style backs. It was like that with me and Reggie and it can be like that with me and Chris — I feel like with me and him in the backfield, we can get it done." White, heading into his third NFL season, is still working his way back from arthroscopic knee surgery and will be limited at the team's minicamp practices over the next week.

Well, I believe it can go either of 2 ways, obviously the better way will become apparent as the season progresses. The first way is described in jlawson113 post before mine in which LenDale explains it like it was in USC with Reggie Bush. The other way is that Chris Johnson gets to start and LenDale gets those third and short plays or goal line plays. Whichever technique or way of running the system works will be used and hopefully improve our already top 5 running game.

No matter how they decide to use them we will go from a top 5 running team to the #1 running team!
Chris Johnson should slide into the role that they thought Chris Henry would, but instead of being a disappointment Johnson will have an immediate and stellar impact. Watch for CJ to line up in the slot, be out there for 2 RB sets, screen passes, and so on . . . the USC comparison is right on . . l also look at how they used Bush with Deuce (when healthy) and how successful that was . . . it made the whole Saints offense better because the opposing D had to constantly account for Bush . . . and yes I am comparing Johnson to Bush.

I think they may do like what he did when he played for USC. He will be the short distance guy. To put in the last punch or in goal line. Henry my go in for johnson or white when their tired. But idk bout that. We will just have to wait and see.

LenDale is gonna start and will be the "workhorse" 22-30 carries a game.
Chris Johnson will probably get 5-8 carries a game. And come in when we need a big play, on screens or w/e.
I don't think Chris Henry will do much this year, which will ultimately lead to him being cut.

Agreed. I don't know if Henry will be cut, but he is definitely not as good as White or Johnson, and was basically a wasted draft pick. I'm looking forward to Lendale having a BIG year, and excited about Johnson's big play ability. Just ask Boise State.

I suspect White gets the bulk of the carries this 1st year...things could chage later though.
The main thing the Titans need to do is make the defenses be more honest. CJ will help there and also (hopefully) the development of VY.
Last year Tenn was the 5th rated rushing attack based on ypg only. It was not anywhere near the 5th most feared running attack with that terrible 3.9 ypc average. Again CJ will help there in many ways--including opening it up a little for White to average more than his measily 3.7 ypc. This is why CJ was drafted.
I'd love to see in 2008
L White 1300+ rushing reciving (1100+ and 200+)
C Johnson 1100+ rushing receiving (550+ rushing 550+ receivng) Then 26+ yards per return.
They'll get help from Henry too, IMO.
Then you really have something. Plus this opens up the passing game too.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Chris Johnson is here to puch LenDale. Should LenDale drop the ball (figuratively) Johnson | |
