I am appalled that my tax dollars could potentially go towards investigating Spygate further. We know they cheated, they were penalized (not enough in my opinion) and now I'm ready to focus on football again. It's time for everyone to move on. Everyone who had a suspicion about the Pats cheating were vindicated, and all the Pats who deny it to this day will continue to do so whether this investigation happens or not. Let's focus on football shall we?

I completely agree. I'm the furthest thing from being a Patriots fan but, when our economy is in shambles, politicians should focus on more important things than spygate. I find it funny that the government moves at the speed of light when it comes to things like the MLB steroid scandal and this but, are slower than molasses on matters that are critical to the country.

Atlienzz - I agree 100%
But here is a thought on this situation - and I am not a conspiracy nut...
With Specter calling for more investigation into football, and with all the steriod scandals going on in baseball - which again our goverenment is pursuing.....
it seems like our friends in Washington are doing the 'ignore the man behind the curtain' act.... in other words, maybe if we act like we are cleaning up football and baseball our citizens will forget about $4.00 a gallon gasoline, high unemployment, skyrocketing food prices....
it's like a bait and switch, - congress gives you someone else to hate (Patriots, NFL, Barry Bonds, Clemens, etc) then you will not focus on their incompetence....

I couldn't agree more. I am a resident of Specter's home state (PA) and wrote him a letter about this several months ago.. He did respond (or one of his staffers did) that as the NFL is one of the larger anti-trust exemptions he felt it necessary to pursue it further as fans of the NFL are deserving that the outcome of the games are not affected.
As I live in the Philadelphia market, I hear him all the time on the Sports talk stations and it is no secret he is an Eagles fan. I can remember several instances where he mentioned he had serious doubts as to whether the Patriots had taped the Eagles and the effect on the game.
Forget that he agreed with me that there are more important things going on like the economy and such, he sounds like another bitter Eagles fan who is abusing his power to try and manufacture and outcome he deems is favorable.

I'm a Patriot fan and acknowledge they cheated. They were caught and were penalized. We can debate the severity of the crime and the punishment but I'd just warn Hatriots that public opinion is a fickle thing. The more some try to exaggerate the crime or pin something else on them, the more likely people are going to get fed up with making a mountain out of a molehill and turn on those who have been determined to make a circus out of this. There's a point where an investigation becomes a witch hunt and we're getting pretty close to the latter.

The man who dreamt up the single bullet theory now wants to waste our precious taxpayer money to protect his interest in his Comcast funding. What an utter disgrace to the country, the Senate and our Founders. Arlan, be a man and resign. Please. Enough already.

It has something to do with anti-trust legislation. Since professional sports make so much money, of course the government has to have their hand in the pot somehow. I don't know all the specifics, but he does have a legal right to interfere. I just don't think he should either way. There are way more important things for our congressional people to be working on. Spygate is a sad era for the league, and the only way to heal it is to move one.
