Did I read that right?  What's he doing talking about next year?  Are Steinbrenner and the Yankees packing it in for this year?  Is it an admission that they screwed it up relying on so many rookies instead of going after Santana this year? Squirm, Yankee fans, squirm.

Listen ya knob, the Yanks are 19-21.  Talk to me after the All-Star Break.  No baseball team in VA last time I checked, so STFU homo.

Last time I checked the baseball season was 162 games, and 1 season did not define the off-season moves of a team.  Phil Hughes is 21, Ian Kennedy is 23, Santana is 30 and got WAY too much money.  Talk to me when Hughes is 30 and then you might have a point.  Until then keep it in your pants.

HAHAHAHA....I love it...If I ever needed proof of karma, I'm getting it now. Even Derek Jeter, Mr. Class and Mr. Yankee, is being over shadowed now by the soap opera we like to call the New York Yankees. Being a life long Seattle Mariner fan, I hated them for the small rivalry we've had in the good seasons, and always loving the Sox as my 2nd, more consistant option I've had more reason to hate. Every year, we have to hear about every move they're thinking about or not thinking about making over any moves other teams actually do make. Every year we watch them spend and spend, raising their payroll beyond belief, and ultimately hurting the sports economy. What reward to we get? Year after year of overrated, and overpayed players that end up underachieving. Well sir Hank...If next year keeps the reality TV trend, then I can't wait. Go every other team in the game besides the yanks. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and now add Bernie Williams arent walking throught that door. Keep adding the money getters because you can't buy heart.

Not a bad point other than you really can't believe either of those guys have anything close to Johan Santana stuff. Maybe for a change, the Yankees are trying to stay in house here and finally develop their own talent, but that is the least of their problems. They have a moron owner, and GM that is affraid of his own shadow, and an older, overpaid team. Santana wouldn't have helped them hit, and only would've helped them 1 out of 5 nights. Their problems run way deep. Just look at the Twins, Indians, Marlins, A's, and now even the Rays. I love steroid free baseball. They actually have to play now baby:)

Hey Jerseycity17 - No baseball team in New Jersey last time I checked, either.  If the Yanks are relevant after the All Star break it's only because they went out and traded for veteran pitching.  Better not lean to heavily on those rooks.

One more thing, Jersey17 - Since when did the Yankees ever look ahead further than the current year?  Isn't it always about winning now with the Yanks?  The question is whether they stick with the kids (and their plan) and let this year go if they don't come through - or will they panic and make a trades to try to stay in it this year.  Hughes and Kennedy might (emphasize might) come through down the road, but the Yankees can't ride them to the playoffs this year, that's for sure.

the point isn't for VaTech to wait til after the all-star break. It was Steinbrenner who said it!

also, next year the Yankees will be a year older. they're lineup will hurt unless they get some free agents.
