I was so ready to get bent about your post after reading the first line, but you are right. This team has a lot to learn about how to enjoy playing this game. Maybe they need some "softball girls" from the Nats to show them how.
The Mets largely seem like a team that sits around and hopes that something good will happen. Everyone on the team probably sits around with fingers crossed 24/7.
And that comes from the top down. Yeah, they went out and got Santana, but everyone kept their fingers crossed that Pedro and El Duque would give them innings this year.
Wow. How has that worked out so far.
And Willie continues to hope that Heilman figures it out, and that Duaner comes back to throwing mid-90s...
At least they jettisoned Sosa, but unless something VERY drastic changes about the way the Mets go about their business, it's going to be a long season for them and for their fans. And with the age issues they have and the barren minors, it doesn't look like "wait until next year" is going to go over very well.
Here's hoping that they snap out of it. We fans, at least, are allowed to sit around and hope. Management, both on field and off field, shouldn't have that luxury.
