There are a few uneducated fans on this thread is you believe that Sidney Crosby is the only 'thing' the Penguins have.....he's worth one win, I read.  Are you serious? You obviously know nothing about the Pens or the Eastern Conference for that matter.  Have you been watching the Pens / Flyers series?

In a few days you will see...and the names Malkin, Stall, Sykora, Malone, Gonchar, Letang, Whitney, Fleury, Hossa...dare I say Ruutu or Roberts?

Regular season stats mean nothing...especially from a weak Western Conference vs. a better Eastern Conference.  Offensive stats mean little as well - primarily vs. inferior teams (a reward for being the top seed).  Defense, protecting your end, and controlling the neutral zone wins Cups.  The Pens have been doing that well - as have the Wings.

The series will be the best the NHL has presented in years!  It will not be a 4 or 5 game series.  Trust me.

Detroit fans don't know what they are in for.  But they better start filling those empty seats.  Because I guarentee they will have black & gold in them if they are available!

Best of luck Wings fans...The 2 best teams are playing for the Cup!  Should be fan-tastic.

Goaltender interference?  I do not think so.  The refs got that one wrong, it should be 1-0 Red Wings.  I am not a fan of either team, but that was not even close to interference, I have seen the refs let a lot more contact go than that, even though I still have not seen contact on that one!

That game was complete bullshit. Horrible officiating both ways bust it was mostly in favor of the Stars especially with that goal taken away. I also enjoy how the stars fans act like they just won the stanley cup. I guess i would be celebrating like that to if all i had to show in a series was one win.

Unfortunately replay sometimes clarifies a questionable call.  But tonight the problem is magnified because there were two key plays that conceivably decided the game.   Holmstrom was not in the crease, Datsyuk's goal being waived off was the first mistake.  Erickson's goal being allowed prior to the end of the second period was a mistake because replay is clear showing him in the crease and interfering with Osgood's stick.  Take one from Dallas, give one to the Wings and the score tied and we might be going to overtime.

But what are you going to do?  The calls now stand.  Just remember, it could always be worse.  This could be the Stanley Cup finals and Brett Hull could be in the crease scoring the Cup winning goal.

JReezee, if the your pens played the Stars they would get wooped up on because our physical play will just strait light yall up same with the wings they will light yall up because the west is faster stronger and better than the east.

Some statistical analysis, for those who enjoy reading such things and who may put any stock in such things:

Averages, based on final regular season standings

Eastern Conference

40.5 -- 32.1 -- 9.4  w/ an average of 90.3 points

Western Conference

41.5 -- 31.7 -- 8.7  w/ an average of 91.8 points

Three Eastern Conference points leaders

104, 102, 99 (Montreal, Pittsburgh, New Jersey)

Three Western Conference points leaders

115, 108, 102 (Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim)

I'm not sure it's possible to say the Western Conference is weaker than the Eastern Conference, considering the conference averages are better, if only marginally, in ALL categories (W-L-OT, Pts), and the level of competition appears tougher in the Western Conference. And this comes from someone who follows several teams in the Eastern Conference, most closely the Boston Bruins.

Just food for thought.

GO, Red Wings!

I for one am glad that there's going to be a game 5 - I look forward to watching that game. But it'll be over after that! There's no way the Stars win the next one - not even WITH the refs helping them out again!
