Johnny,

Overall I like the post. 5 Stars. I do think that having our top 2 D would have changed the game. Would we have won the series. I dont know, nobody will ever know but its more likely that the series would have went 5 or 6 games. I mean It still can go 5-6 but i think it would be like 2-1 Pitt instead of 3-0. But we cant assume that so we dont know. We do know the Penguins are doing what they need to do and thats all that matters.

About Detroit. I think most hockey fanatics would agree that the Western Conference is stronger than the Eastern Conference. I hate to admit it but I'm pretty sure its obvious. I dont count regular season and the East vs West stats because thats a small sample size of playing a team 1 time. If we played them more times a year i think we would notice more but playing a team once during the regular season is not going to say much.

Detriot has beaten Nashville, Colorado, and soon to be Dallas. Colorado was only a 6th seed because that division was so close and the Wild got 3rd by like 3 points. I wouldn't under-estimate who the Red Wings have beaten. Not just that but if anything they have cake walked through the playoffs. I know the Penguins are 11-1 but the Red Wings are 11-2 and the only reason they lost 2 games was because Hasek was in net. Osgood has yet to lose in the post season. This Detroit team is solid, up and down their roster they are just sick with talent and I think their back end is better then the Pens. Rafalski, Schneider, Chelios, and Lidstrom. None of the Penguins D even come close to the experience and talent level of those guys. Maybe Gonchar, but thats it.

Your logic seems right for the free agents...the only problem is that not every player is willing to take less money. You have to realize that Malone, Hossa, and a few others are unrestricted free agents. Which means a team that has the cap room can come and swoop these guys up for large amounts of money. If they were restricted its a different story, but in the end I think most guys are going to go where they can get more money. Malone will get offers, Hossa is about 95% guaranteed gone. Players say they want to stay in cities because they dont want to burn any bridges. Forseburg said he wanted to stay in Philly....why? Because hes not stupid and doesn't want people to think hes all about the money and winning which is all he wants. Its why he went to Colorado over Philly because we were in the middle of a 10 game losing streak and Colorado was in the playoffs.

You have to assume the cap will go up..prob about another 2 million. So it should be around 46 for the next season. You really want to get Malkin signed this off season so you dont have to worry about him for the future.

Go to nhlnumbers.com it gives you a detailed look at what the Penguins have to work with.

To sum it up they have:
about 18-19 million with 5 offensive players.
about 16 million locked up for 7 D men.
Combined thats about 34-35 million that leaves you with 46-34 = 12 million left to sign Fleury, Malone, Laraque, Ruutu, Hossa, Dupuis, Eaton, Orpik plus some other AHL players.

Pens have 20 free agents that need to be signed this off season with 12 million dollars to do it. Now granted your going to let players go...i would assume Roberts, Laraque, Ruutu, Hossa, Eaton and Conklin will not resign. But do you pick up the tab on Malone which you will have to fight others for because you know a team like Edmonton will throw a crazy amount at him? Malone will prob get 4+ a year. That brings you down to 8 million with 6 O players....then Fleury say around 3 million....thats 5 million left for 6 O players.

Just doesn't look like they can keep the core together. It doesn't look good but thats just my opinion...who knows what will really happen...cant wait for free agency to open up!

Legion-

I never once asked you to see my side. I originally commented on the fact that you seemed confused as to why people were calling you a complainer. That's all I tried to explain to you. Give it a rest already.

Love-

Thank you. I always take it as a compliment when an opponent resorts to name calling. It's an excellent indication of an inferior intellect. Thank you again.

You two Phillies have a nice day now.

Yeah, they're sick, I mean, it looks like they're playing against their second team or something...O wait, the Flyer's best defenseman and another of their best are both out? Well that explains a lot.

Hats of the the Pens but realistically, as sick the the Pens O is, this is born definately at least partly due to the injuries...

Hey Legion,

I never said Eaton was top D-man.  We were talking about puck moving d-men, were we not?  You know you were blaming Philly's offensive woes on not having Coburn or Timonen to move the puck up the ice.  OUR argument wasn't about being the best d-man, it was about Philly's worthless offense.  And someone else said we adjusted for it during the regular season.  Well you must be a hockey genius.  It's true no one can anticipate something like this happening in the playoffs, but where are all you losers who told me how deep Philly was and that was gonna be the reason they beat us.  Looks like you weren't as deep as you thought.

All that being said, I will give Philly credit.  I didn't think anyone could come up with as many excuses as my girlfriend.  Cryers played like sh!t for 3 games, no excuses, Pens are the top dog here in PA.  Don't worry this won't be like Philly-Wash, we can finish a series, we'll end it quick.

Bolivar,

Apparently your changing your story now? And i quote you:

"Also we lost one of our top d-men all year too, Mark Eaton."

Sorry I did not realize that what you actually said yourself is not what you meant. But now that you realized your a moron...you can go eat your own words.

"OUR argument wasn't about being the best d-man, it was about Philly's worthless offense."

I am sorry i dont see anything in your previous post talking about Philly's offence. Can you pick a story/topic and stick to it?

"And someone else said we adjusted for it during the regular season.  Well you must be a hockey genius.  It's true no one can anticipate something like this happening in the playoffs,"

I am sorry but um, you pretty much contradicted yourself here. Adjusting during the regular season is one thing...your right we cant anticipate an injury in the playoffs but you had an entire season to adjust your game plan when your "top d man, but now not a top d man" Eaton went down. Flyers found out the night before that Timonen would not be playing and had all of 4 games to change their entire game plan before they are eliminated.

"but where are all you losers who told me how deep Philly was and that was gonna be the reason they beat us.  Looks like you weren't as deep as you thought."

Once again let me explain how much of a moron you are. I am about 99% positive that everyone that mentioned the Flyers being deep were referring to the 7 20+ goal scorers. I do not recall a single soul saying that the Flyers D was deep. If anything we have been saying its slow. So to lose a forward or too, yes your argument would work because with the depth we have on O we should play around it. But when we know our D is our weakness on the team and we lose the top 2 d men....then we cant really play around that.

"All that being said, I will give Philly credit.  I didn't think anyone could come up with as many excuses as my girlfriend.  Cryers played like sh!t for 3 games, no excuses, Pens are the top dog here in PA.  Don't worry this won't be like Philly-Wash, we can finish a series, we'll end it quick"

Man i feel like im outside target shooting with all your idiotic comments. First, I am sorry your mom makes a lot of excuses...but that has nothing to do with hockey. Second, Flyers did play like shit the first 3 games and were not making excuses were stating facts. Your what we call a "homer" which means you dont open your eyes to the hockey world because the hockey world to you is Sid the Kid and the Penguins. You dont know how to talk hockey outside of the Igloo. You dont know anything about the sport basically. Also your reference to the Washington series is backwards. See we were the team having trouble closing it out, now were the team trying to come back...so its complete opposite of what your refrencing.

Please enlighten me with another stupid post of yours. They are quite fun to rip apart. If I were you i would probably just resort to what most of your other fans do and thats just curse at me and call me names and insult the city that i dont even live in. That seems to work best for you guys...
