I really haven't seen any articles or heard any discussions pointing out how the Atlantic division completely dominated these playoffs.

1. Four of the eight teams were from the Atlantic division.

2. Even with four teams in, no Atlantic division team lost to a team from another division. Devils eliminated by Rangers, Rangers eliminated by Pens.

3. The fourth team in from the Atlantic (Philly) eliminated both of the other division winners. (Washington and Montreal)

4. The obvious one is both teams in the Eastern finals are from the Atlantic.

I just thought it was interesting and says alot about the competition these teams faced all year long.

I agree that the Atlantic is the best division in hockey (Northwest a close second). This is the second year in a row that the Atlantic has sent 4 teams to the playoffs. Each team has its All-Stars and there is nothing better to help a team come playoff time than to see play 32 games against 4 decent teams (although the Islanders weren't good this year, they were still dangerous at times and had half their lineup out by the end of the year).

I think this division will continue to be one of the best for many years to come.

I agree 100%, If you put any one of the top four teams in the Atlantic in other divisions, I believe they would have competed for the best record in hockey this year.

No doubt about it...the Atlantic Division is the strongest, but you will get arguements from the Southeast and Northwest Divisions as far as being most competitive....the Southeast went down to the last game of the season and the Northwest wasnt decided until the last week of the season as well....Pittsburgh wrapped up the Atlantic before the last week....

I think the moves by the teams in the other divisions in the East contributed heavily to why the Atlantic is showing up during the postseason....the Senators looked like a fish out of water after firing their coach....Boston just couldnt beat the Canadiens......Washington ran out of gas after such a hard "playoff like run" to overtake the Hurricanes....and  Montreal made the worst trading deadline deal in modern history in getting rid of Huet for a second round pick in 09......

The real question is can the Atlantic Division win the Cup? Not since the Devils in 03 has a team from the Division won a cup....the Southeast has 2 and the Pacific 1 since then.....
