Umm, just how do you contain such a coverup? It wasn't like this was solely between Goodell and Belichick.
How much hush money does it take to silence NFL players from a team for 7 years, the investigation committee, and a coaching/scouting staff for 7 years enough so that if one leaked, the others would stand by the lie, even under the threat of perjury??? You would have to make sure that not one of these players, coaches, or employees ever left the league slightly unhappy, and even then, if they fell on any hard times, they would have this to fall back on. Just break the story and write a book.
NO it isn't ok. That is a huge reason why Goodell decided to rewrite the NFL's rule books, and make this a topic that would be looked at hard before last season. Why make this a point of emphasis, then cover it up???? I am glad this is finally being done. I am tired of all the stories, coaches and players admitting to cheating, etc. from guys in the past. I guess Goodell was too. So he puts teeth into these rules to prohibit cheating and spying, and then when he catches someone doing it, he covers it up???
And if this is something that could shake the NFL to it's core... Put the Patriots in ruin, and maybe even the league... Ensure that Belichick would never coach an NFL team again.... WHY WOULD HE VOLUNTARILY TURN THAT TAPE OVER???? It isn't like Goodell could tell if it had been destroyed like the ones Walsh had, or if they had it. Why make the choice that puts you and your job into ruin in the first place?
