Do you think the Reds are on the right track now?

I think with the 3 game winning streak they are on it will put this team into the direction the need to be. Even with the blown save last night the offense  still came through during the 10th inning. The starting pitching is doing better since they have gotten some run support.

What do you think??

They have a shot at their first 4 game win streak...against the team with best record in baseball going in, so yeah they look better.  I love the play of Hairston.  I loved it here in Louisville, and he is still at it in the bigs.  I think his hustle is contagious.  They pitching has gotten better too.  Janish was doing great here as well, so it will be interesting to see how he does there.  I really hope they can win tis one tonight.  What it would do for their confidence.

Who is pitching tonight?

Things are definitely looking up!!!

How about Janish! That was pretty amazing. I couldn't imagine the feeling.

The true test will be tonight when Belisle pitches. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belisle is scheduled to go tonight.

I personally am gaining alot of confidence in this team, over the past few nights, theyve started to score runs without the home run ball, and have started to hit with runners in scoring position.  With Hairston and Freel playing more, im noticing that the team seems to have alot more hustle in the lineup.  If Dunn or Griffey could play up to their capabilities then this team could put alot of runs on the board.

I agree the Reds have looked alot better over the last three nights, but let's be honest it would be hard for them to look any worse than they had.  Keppinger being injured is going to hurt.  I just hope Janish can fill in and swing the bat like he did last night.  I read somewhere there is talk of moving Phillips to SS.  That makes me a little nervous.

Things are looking up, but I'll hold judgement on whether they're on the right track or not to see how they do over the next week.  I believe we have the Indians, Dodgers and Padres through the end of next week.  That'll be a good test on where we are.

I'm still worried about the pitching and the injury bug.  I mean, we had a 6 run lead in the 9th and couldn't seal the deal?!  On the injury front, I'm glad Kepp won't be out for the year, but him missing time is going to hurt.  He was getting in the groove and now he'll have this set-back to deal with.

With the energy that guys like Freel, Hairston, and Phillips bring- I feel good about it.

However, I was not buying into the Marlins before they came to town... The Indians series (with the pitching they are bringing) will be a true test

How about Sunday's matchup!  Lee vs. Volquez!  WOW

The Reds have beaten up on a bad baseball team, despite their record.
This Reds team seems to be patched together somehow and doesn't offer me the sort of "mix" that says "contender."

I am a little disappointed in that, mainly because in February, I saw Patterson and Hairston competing for BENCH jobs or maybe even AAA jobs, not being the leaders of the offense. These guys signed minor league deals, fer craps sake, and they are among the offensive leaders of the team.

The wrong guys are stepping up here.

I will take what I can get but the energy level on this team should not come from two guys who signed on as fill-in players.

Like it or not about Patterson, he's gone out and played ball. He just needs to do it a little bit better. And I am truly impressed with Hairston's play so far.

I have very mixed feelings on the Reds still. I don't think a three game win streak vs. the Marlins is really that telling. Once we get back in to playing the National League Central is where this team really needs to step it up. The Reds are 7-13 vs the Central so far this year. I think they have a tough test with the Indians. The Indians starters haven't give up an earned run in 40 1/3 innings. They also have two of the best left handers in major league baseball in Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia. This is going to be tough for the Reds. Luckily we don't face C.C. but we do get lefty Jeremy Sowers. We also have to face a tough righty in Fausto Carmona. If the Reds win tonight, and can take two of three from the Indians, I will feel a little more positive.

I think the building blocks are in place for this team with a solid minor league system. The future looks bright, but I still have reservations about the current.
