Very very bitter aren't you.   Jimmy Johnson said that he had done some of the same but really didn't see much value in it.  Other coaches have said the same.  It is the same thing that other coaches do every week to figure out what plays get run with various personell groupings.  It can't be used during the game but only for the next time they play.  The Pats got caught because they were lazy and maybe a little arrogant.  There is no real advantage gained from doing this.

NHPatsfan, your head must have been too far up Belichik's @ss to hear the actual statements from Goodell about Walsh.  He said Walsh handed the tapes over at halftime.  Not only that, the Jets game from 2007, the NFL confiscated the tape at halftime while he was trying to get into the Patriots lockerroom....So where do you see it that these tapes weren't used at halftime?

Well I would guess he gets it from the fact that you're wrong on both accounts.  Matt Walsh told Roger Goodell that the tapes were never used during the game.  Secondly, during the Jet's game, the video assistant was caught seven minutes into the first quarter on the sideline.

On a few other notes, Taping signals is legal from the coaching booth where the tape cannot be accessed during the game, but is available afterwards for review purposes.  That having been said the Patriots videotaping them from the sidelines is in violation of the rules or cheating if you will.  For this the patriots were punished and we all know what the punishment was.  I personally feel that the punishment was definetly sever enough given the fact that their violation was not taping signals, or using them during the game, but rather videotaping from an illegal vantage point.  For those of you who say that the patriots should have lost the seventh pick, the NFL does not have a mechanism for removing draft picks aquired from other teams.  Therefore Rodger Goodell could not have taken away that pick.

In conclusion LET'S ALL MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES.  There are a lot more important things in life than whether or not the pats gained an advantage from these tapes.  A good friend of mine died in a car crash on Sunday, and I guess I can say that one thing I've learned from it is that there are really more important things than this.  Now I understand that you may question why I'm on here if I realize there are more important things, well I'm more than willing to let this go, however, I feel obligated to defend a team that my friend loved just as much as I did and I know this is what he would want.

I am SICK of politicians getting involved in sports. Arlen Specter, come on, work on the budget deficits in Penn instead of getting involved professional sports. They cheated, they were penalized, done. This guy has a chip on his shoulder because his Panthers lost, and he is not going to stop until he has Patriot blood. Unbelivable. I am sure he was shaking Clemens hand earlier in the year, damn Republicans.

I have tried to just sit back and laugh while reading most of these Patriots cheated/everyone cheats threads but I cannot walk away from this incredible ignorance. Arlen Specter is a SENATOR not a Governor. He has ZERO to do with the state's budget - and as a US Senator, protecting anti-trust regulation IS HIS JOB. I understand what everyone says about having more important things to do but to post such a lack of knowledge into our governmental process only show me that you should spend some time away from the petty concern of sports and learn how your own government works. Then perhaps you could comment intelligently.

Peace ... Rog

I believe there is still so much more to this story.  As you know, Matt Walsh said that the Patriots went through great lenghts to not get caught.  There is still more to this story.  They would have offensive players memorize the defensive play calls and then relay a play that would work verse that defense.  Also, what is the difference between steroids and knowing the plays of your opponent?  Both enhance the way you perform on the field.  The Patriots had 11 guys on the field that were playing like they were on steroids.  Which leads me to my next point, Tom Brady is very over-rated.  A 6th round pick coming out of know where with a nobody coach in Bill Belichek.  Brady obviously used the information they had to perform the way he did.  And that is also why he had success with the so called bad WRs they had on the team at that time.  Now that they arent video taping anymore some might say that he is putting up better numbers now then he did back then.  But how can that be if they arent cheating anymore????  Easy....look at the team that they have built.  Their offensive line might be the best in the NFL, Laurence Maroney, oh and not to mention Randy Moss on the outside to just throw the ball up to.  There were countless times this past year in which Brady would just lob the ball up to Moss and he would come down with it.  The Patriots should be punished further more and hopefully have some of their rings stripped away from them.
