1st off a payroll of 60 mill is better then a payroll of 130 mill when the lower payroll is = more wins.

They have made runs at Torii Hunter, Kuroda, Andruw Jones, Ted Lilly, etc.

But because they chose to go to better teams means the Royals are keeping payroll low?

I seem to remember critics railing on the Royals for overpaying both Meche and Guillen.  Can you over pay for players AND keep payroll low?    Didn't think so.

Not to mention a few years ago when they called Scott Boras to see what it would take to bring in Zito, Boras told them to not waste their time.
