Hey all Eagles fans i know its early and theres still a few months before the season so i figured we would all just talk about the upcoming season. Last year all other nfc east team fans said the Giants wont be sh*t and well no one thought we would do anything and well we won the whole thing and im not here to say you guys wont be nothing this year cause i actually believe you guys will have a good season and make the playoffs. I believe with the addition of Asante Samuel and drafting D. Jackson was good moves on your behalf. I think you guys finish 10-6 and second in the Division behind Us ofcourse but im biased lol. i also think you guys will win 1 playoff game before losing. Anyways whats your thoughts????
Last year all other nfc east team fans said the Giants wont be sh*t and well no one thought we would do anything and well we won the whole thing.
Actually if you asked most NFC East fans 8 weeks into the season we would have said the Giants weren't sh*t. Going into the playoffs I didn't think the Giants were sh*t. They got hot at the right time and won the big game. Congrats. I don't see the Giants as a team I would consider a dynsasty or a team that is just in the beginning of a long run, I just think they had a good year. I think you are right that we will win 10 games, and I picked the Cowboys to win the division again with 11. I think the Giants will come back to earth and win about 8 games. The Redskins don't worry me this year and I think they will fall back to about 6 wins. The Skins may have the brightest future out of all the teams if they can make strides this year. I just don't do see them in the playoffs in 08. Just opinions, they still have to play the games.
I 'll be the 1st to admit I didnt think the Giants would do anything last year. Everything pointed to a crap season, TIKI gone, Straham not going to camp, and the ususal crap on the coach stuff. I was wrong. TIKI leaving was the best thing to happen. I like that you guys shut his A$$ up. Thanks for the optomistic appraisal of the Birds. Not many east rivals would say that. We look ok, excited by the D. Our redzone should be better, and D Jackson will hopefully help us in Sp Teams, and spread the field on 3 WR s sets. But not one game has been played yet, so who the hell knows what will happen. BTW I liked the Gmen draft, Phillips & Manningham mostly.
I'm thinking 4-5 wins will seperate the Top from the Bottom in the NFC East.
My questions are:
Dallas - Is Romo the Man or not? Will they be as consistent as last year? I think 11-5
NY Giants - Can they keep the chemistry they had last season? Will the offense stay consistent, and will teams figure out their Defense? Will Shockey be a distraction? I think 10-6.
Philly - Can they stay healthy? Can they find some rythym and balance to the Offense? I think 10-6.
Washington - Who is the QB again? Lots of diverse talent, little cohesion/Team unity. Started to show some last year - can they keep it going, or did it vanish over winter? I think 8-8
I don't think any NFC East team will get more than 12 wins, but there's a good chance they will all be .500 or higher. All my guesses above I think are accurate, with maybe a +/-2 game swing, depending on .. a whole Lotta Stuff that we can't guess at.
in playing/beating each other up for 6 games and we all have to play Steelers and a really nice offense in Cleveland now... any team gets 12 wins in NFC East this year... damn, yeah I'll take my hat off to that.
Giants and Cowboys right now are seen as the cream of the crop by fans/teams/analysts around the nation.
Eagles and Redskins fighting for 3rd... we'll see though. This is all "perceived" by NFL fans. As can be said by any(almost any) team.... We stay healthy were in it. I totally believe that, Don/LJ/Westy stay relatively healthy and we'll put up points. Our D will also keep us in games if our offense sputters at times.
Tough Games:
Giants - Seattle, at Cleveland, at Pittsburgh, at Minnesota and of course in division matches.
Cowboys - at Cleveland, at NY Giants, at Pittsburgh, at Philly. then games vs. Tampa, Seattle, at Arizona aren't gonna be a walk in the park. Redskins could surprise and take one.
Redskins - New Orleans, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, at Seattle, and even at San Fran (could give them problems)... all on top of 2 vs. Us, NY, and Dallas... Skins have it rough.
Eagles - our schedule isn't easy at all! but i am glad we get Steelers and Browns in Philly
Congrats on the SB win last year but it this day and age its hard to win back to back. When you win your players look a lot better in FA and that was a lot of defense to give up. Also every time you play every other team knows they are playing the defending champ and might give a little more intensity than usual. If Manning improves on his mental focus then the Giants might win 10 -11 games. But if Manning is the same or only improved a little bit then prob only 7-8 games with no playoffs.
the g-men definately have a big red bulls eyes on their backs this year. i wouldn't be surprised though to see a 9-7 maybe 10-6 out of them this year. i really don't expect a 12-4 or 13-3 out of them just because the momentum they had at the end of last year would be so hard to replicate. now on the Eagles side of things i think a 11-5 year is very obtainable for them. if we go back and take a look at last year 5 games were determined by 4 points or less when it came down to it the difference between a 13-3 and a 8-8 season were the little battles. the turnovers, lack of turnovers created by the defense, lack of pass rush (with the exception of Trent Cole), special teams break downs (green bay game). and when you look at the draft and free agents brought in, alot of the problems i listed were delt with. Asante Samuel was brought in to improve turnover potential in the secondary, DeSean Jackson to improve special teams and maybe to finally get a kickoff or punt returned for a TD. Trevor Laws and Dan Klecko to swap reps with Patterson and Bunkley and improve the interior pass rush. Chris Clemons on DE. and Chris Wilson and Rocky Boiman who are special teams studs. so on the whole alot of problem areas were addressed. problems that were alot more pressing than bringing in a Chad Johnson or Anquan Boldin or whatever other recievers are out there who want way to much money. eagles fans be happy at least we didn't trade away L.J. Smith and Omar Gaither for a 4th round draft pick. (dallas)
