I cheat, but I'm smart enough not to get caught. If I do get caught, then I will suffer the consequnces and not make excuses. Everyone who cheats know's exactly what they're doing and know's the punishments.
I don't know if everyother team does the same as the Patriots, maybe they do maybe they don't. But they haven't been caught, and until they do, the Patriots are the only team that does this, and deserve to suffer the consequences.

Well Rock ... as bad as people jump on the Patriots, I can honestly say if the Chicago Bears won 3 championships in the decade, then got caught cheating .... I wouldn't go moral all of a sudden and say, oh that was so bad ... let me polish my Lombardi Trophies as I ponder my mistake.
Fans turn a blind eye to cheating especially when their team is winning, thats why I find Specter so funny, guess what it happens. He has nothing better to do but to promote himself as a righteous Senator looking out for the welfare of our nation, hell no ... he's looking for self and free publicity for his future campaigns.
Like I said, easy to make fun of the team that got caught cheating ... but in honesty if they probe deeper into the league, there will be other teams that get will surface as "not so clean" as well, then it really will be the "no fun league"

Hey Rock, I didn't hear that cow bell at the last game's halftime.
Anyway, I voted 'naive.' Not 'cause I am, but as a 3 decade Pats fan I'm loving this crap.
This last week especially. It's very hard to prove non-existence and yet Walsh saying he knew nothing of the Rams walk-through episode, the Herald's sports department practically disbanding, and Specter's speculations are absolutely washing away ALL allegations against NE. Unbelievable!
Those Sasquatch piloted UFOs over Pennsylvania are flyin' right up Arlen's Sphincter.
Everyone cheats more or less. Whether it's Mangini stealing every playbook on the way out the door or Billy B videoing signals and cheerleaders.
The taping of the cheerleaders is unforgivable though .... I mean COME ON NOW

Sorry Rock, but there are plenty of ways to gain a competitive advantage that aren't considered cheating. Studying LEGITIMATE film and picking up on a coach's tendencies or certain coverages or weaknesses is part of the game, it is up to the coaches to exploit these and make their players ON THE FIELD pick them up. Or a lineman that tips run or pass. Or a d-lineman getting a jump on the snap because a QB drops his hands a second before the snap, it is all part of the game and something the other team would need to fix. It's all legit. Taping a teams signals, having a sidline team member memorize them and then relay them to the OC so he can relay them to the QB is not gamesmanship. It is cheating. Sorry.

I am a Colts fan...so, I am in no way justifying the Pats tapings, but
I am of the opinion that other teams either tape or visually try to steal signs. My point is that maybe they should just open the damn thang up and have a 3rd party supply tapes. Baseball changes their signals...why can't football?
Before anyone gets on their high horse:
Ever driven while intoxicated? If you can't answer that honestly, you should not be throwing stones...

Rock.... i don't know if you realise this but you just made yourself look like a complete clown by posting the definition of cheating.
I said every team tries to gain an advantage. This is not cheating.
Cheating, as YOU POINTED OUT, is to VIOLATE RULES in order to gain advantage.
Trying to gain an advantage is not cheating as long as you play by the league's rules, which the Patriots deliberately did not.
Better luck next time buddy. Think before you post

Sorry BigD, but if a 'team member' can memorize the signals then videotape isn't a big deal is it?
Maybe this was 'special' video. The stuff that can see through walls or say, cheerleader outfits.
Keep throwing the crap everyone.
I love it.

I misunderstood the rules. I thought it was ok to steal the test if you didn't steal the answers. Apparently you can't do neither. Now my B.S. is simply that, BS.

Floyd, i have driven multiple times while intoxicated.
That's not cheating. That's just plain breaking the law. You don't drink to gain an advantage over the other drivers on the road.
And at least I man up about it. Everyone does wrong at some point. If Bill had come out and apologized for it, we'd have criticised him for a while, but it'd be over by now. His lying to try and cover it up shows how immature he is.
Real men take responsibility for their stuff

Well said, and I too, have driven while intoxicated...putting lives at risk..I consider that worse than tapes (Mr. Obivous). The bigger issue is that the Pats got caught and have been penalized. The Pats organization has also cheated their fans and I think their fans have been roasted enough.

- Let's not forget about aging safeties from the northeast if we're going down the HGH/steroid abuse path.
- goodell/nfl officials, everyone and anyone associated with the Patriots organization, and owners/players from other teams have all said there's no advantage. yet, for some reason, teams go to great lengths, as goodell will tell you, to protect the secrecy of their play calling. perplexing, i know.
- oh my god, replay the goodell press conference. he said walsh indicated that he was lay low and not get caught. read quotes from walsh himself on the videotaping/Belichick. if you're confusing it with Walsh's commentary all together, it was spelled out in the agreement that got him to meet with the NFL.
