People bash because they feel inferior. They have to key in on all of the negatives of another team to make their team look better than they are. All comparisons should be made on each team's accomplishments whether it be in the last 5 years or 50 years. And NO, the SEC does not count as 1 team. It is not SEC against any single team. You take any SEC team and compare them to USC, OSU, and maybe Texas/Oklahoma and you have some very even comparisons over the past 10 years.
If anyone has the time to make these comparisons, I would love to see them.
Bashing the other guy's fans is all part of what keeps the fun in sports. If you can dish it out be able to take it as well. The annoyances are worth it if you are able to return in kind. I personally enjoy a good slam session with the other teams fanbase, kinda keeps me interested in it even more.... and with each insult or jab that I recieve I am picking up a slam to use on the next guy. All things circular......
I never saw the need to bash other fans until I got on this board and read some of the comments made by Cassells and all his brothers . Now I understand it but I'm not sure I like it. I do think some is done for fun and to get a response. But some is just plain hateful and often misguided. Yes, I do go after Cassie but that is just being part on this board.
I tend to dislike teams because of some of the fans. Alot of fans in game whether it be baseball or basketball, can make or ruin a sport. I have seen spectators throw beer and popcorn at the player in the field because they dropped a ball or didn't swing the bat on a called 3rd strike. Face it, it still does happen. The fans can make or break a team just like any other team out there in the majors. Not all teams have the exact same fans.
Actually, I have to second the nomination of Nebraska fans! They are gracious hosts and are even better winners than most. Good call on Big red fans!
You obviously only saw them when the won, or have never attended a football game in Lincoln or a neighboring state since they were dumb enough to run off their NC coach.
Hey, I resemble that remark. And the only time I bash fans is usually on this board when someone has gone over the top with a comment.
That's no problem until we consider that your top is my middle and the next guy's low end. Besides, when I feel the urge to lay into someone, my top can always be adjusted to the level of the target. Outlandish criticism and unwarranted boasts are all harmless until someone really gets mean and/or someone else can't stop from striking back below the belt.
I doubt that anyone (with more than a dozen replies) has never posted things they should have considered more carefully. Given the demographics of our fellow users (mostly semi-inebriated, semi-mature, semi-literate, semi-educated), the level of antagonism seldom exceeds what sober, mature, literate, educated (you, me and maybe three other) users can accept or ignore. All of is subject to my page down key and the back button on my browser, so I only subject myself to those within my own level of tolerance at the time.
One infallible truth applies to all objectionable content: Hostile response provokes escalation. In my (admittedly limited) experience, counterattacks only succeed when they are mounted with maximum humility, subtlety and humor. Questions which are innocuous enough to seem legitimately sympathetic have been my best weapon.
3. Big 12(Yes the mid west Farmer's Daughter syndrome!)
4. ACC (Southeastern "contender"!)
5. Big 10 (Must bundle up in October)
6. Big East (at slight disadvantage as they must "bundle up" in SEPTEMBER!!
OK, ECU is not listed so I'll insert them where they should be between 1 and 2.
Lets be honest, some schools have a lot of the same fans, and if they are annoying, they can get quite a bashing. Look at it this way, if you go on the road and you have a good time with the other teams fans, then thats cool, but if you go on the road and the other teams fans are screaming at you, throwing stuff, and you feel like you cant go to the bathroom, those are the people that get bashed.
