Just when you think the Motor City Kitties hit rock bottom.... they go out and get swept away by the Royals. OUCH
I' m sorry... .but the Tigers are very simply not a good baseball team. Great offense sure, but by far the worst pitching staff in baseball.
How many in Detroit think that Dombrowski is a great GM now? Maybe he should have spent a little time in the off season building up his bullpen and starting rotation. Because... who knew that Kenny Rogers is over the hill? (Besides everyone outside of Detroit)
If I were Dombrowski I would start the fire sale now and try to rebuild like the Indians did in 2001-2003.

I'm still hoping for a turnaround, but it's true, I'd be a fool to suggest that the Tigers aren't one of the worst teams in baseball. When the pitching shows up, the offense doesn't. When they're hitting well, the starters go out and lay an egg. Surprisingly, the bullpen is the most consistent aspect of this team, the one worry we supposedly had.

Don't worry about Detroit my friend, Baseball is the only sport going right now where you actually have a better team than we do.
Nobody over here really gives a sh*t about bb right now, we have the Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals, and the Redwings about to enter the Stanley Cup finals.

LOL...Buckeye4ever21
Where the Tigers Missed up was going after Wilis and Cabrara I mean spending 163 Million for both of those players....Worst mistake that they made since they made it to the World Series a few years back and got swept away by the Cardinals
and only reason why the Tigers went after Willis and Cabrara was becuase the Kansas City Royals was interested in both of them...Since there are a team that is looking for pitching and batting
LOL...I dont look for a Tigers Turnaround this season...I think they are on a record pace to hit 120 loses this season

Naw Dolls, Detroit might suck, but they won't lose 120 games this year - they might lose 90, but with all that money they spent, it might as well be 120 :)
I do love the irony of it all - KC is 6-0 against the mighty Tigers - with an offense that can't punch it's way out of a paper bag.
I'm really glad we didn't sign Willis, and of course, there was no way we could afford Cabrera - I don't think we could pay the donut bill that dude must rack up!
The AL Central is getting interesting - the Indian's starting pitching right now is sick - thank god they don't have a reliable closer. Ozzie Guillen will bitch and swear and make a fool of himself, but he will keep the Sox in it. I haven't figured out the Twinks yet. I think the Tigers are ready for a major collapse, and where does that leave the Royals? 80 wins and 3rd, if they learn how to hit with men in scoring position. I love a 2-1 game with pitching and defense, but it's also nice to not have to chew yer fingernails down to the bone every stinking night. But then I remember, at least we still have a chance in the 7th inning, unlike the last 22 years!!!
Go Blue!
Peace

I have to disagree with you JDR13
After the Tigers lost i think it was to the Red Sox....I Beleive that is who they played
They ran from the baseball stadium all the way over the the Red Wings arena to catch the end of the Hockey game
So i dont think that they Tigers fans worry about baseball...good thing they dont because they would be lucky to get 100 fans to come to there games
The Royals game was almost sold out today

Sorry Hubie...I have to disagree with you
the Tigers are going to lose 120 games this season
and the Tigers are not Mighty...If they was Mighty...then they would have already won 30 games this year
Tigers dont have pitching or batting...They still need alot of help

As a Detroit Tigers fan, I'm very frusterated and disappointed. They play with absolutely no heart and Jim Leyland is commending their effort. I don't understand that. If Detroit was playing with the heart KC is, they would be in first place. The hitting is horrible and the pitching is even worse. I'm going to take a few days off from watching and following them (it will be hard) but I don't think I can take it anymore. I said in an earlier post, my blood pressure is that of a 60 year old and I'm only 22. Go Pistons and Red Wings, teams with talent and heart!

I can't believe some of these posts! I'm in Indonesia, and perhaps can't follow all the baseball as closely as some of you, but if you've been following baseball any length of time with any discernment at all, you know you can't say a team is this bad or this good based on the short term - even as long as this first part of the season has been.
The Tigers are a good team. They've had some injuries, they've run into some other teams playing well and with confidence, etc. It happens - to every team at times. I will be very surprised if they do not come back and finish near the top in the AL. They may not win their division, or go on to do well in the playoffs, or to the World Series, but then, again, they still might - and really surprise some of you, Tiger fans and non-fans, that think right now that they are such a bad team.

LOL...I dont look for a Tigers Turnaround this season...I think they are on a record pace to hit 120 loses this season 1st of all your a MORON! They're not on that pace nor will they be. They are 16-25 as of right now, and still only 5 games out in the division. To say they CAN'T recover is wrong just look at what the Rockies did last year, they were 17-28 to start the season.

If they was MightyLet me say it again.............MORON, I think you meant if they were mighty. Also, again, They didn't lose 120 in 2003, there is no way in hell they do this yea, and as far as you K.C fans go, you'll be back in the basement before you know it so enjoy it while you can.

1st off Leyland is a useless manager.
2nd I wish I could take the next few day's off w/ you, but sadly for me I bought tickets to this series back in March, thinking we would be in first and the Diamondbacks would suck, so the results here would be different form a few years ago. Silly me

When I made my pre-season predictions on the Tigers, I pointed out, unlike everyone else, that their team would not be as good simply because of pitching woes, placing them 2nd in the division behind the Indians. I'm not about to change that now, but considering that they have the 4th worst-record in baseball (at .390), I might have to rank them behind the Twins as well, if they don't shape up by the All-Star break.
Expected:
- Rotation problems after Justin Verlander
- Hitters won't all be as hot as last year
- Many lost opportunities to win games
- Not in 1st place in their division
Unexpected (even this surprises me):
- Bullpen has been marvelous, but has little to show for it (besides ERA)
- Even Justin Verlander has been struggling mightily! Leads team with 7 losses, which is three more than the next one behind him! And his ERA is just about the same as that of Robertson, who has 4 losses (6.05 - 6.04)
- Ummm... where is the offense? I mean, they won't be all as great as last year, but this is totally insane!
- They're in last place
