A lot of what makes the BCS so terrible could be remedied if the voters had any backbone. I'm amazed that these so-called experts act like such sheep. If the voters based their votes on their opinions, which is the whole point of human voters, instead of following the de facto rule that you keep sliding up until you loose, I think the entire game would benefit.
Does everyone remember the one time this has happened in recent memory? That's right, the last week of the season last year. Why were people suddenly able to shuffle those top teams based on there opinions. It kills me that it was my team that got screwed but it was somewhat refreshing to see humans on the other end of the polls. Let's find people who are motivated enough to consider there votes on a weekly basis.
If there were a true football god, we'd have a playoff and these idiot voters wouldn't matter. I've never understood what's wrong with settling it on the field, playoff style.
i wanna know how LSU had atleast 2 chances at number maybe three but dont hold me to that but when LSU lost to kentucky, which was mid-late season, and then after they lose to kentucky, we play them and win but still at the end of the year when we have so much momentum, LSU gets to play in the national championship. i know we didnt win the sec championship but that was because we lost two games, one of which we shouldve won, but LSU losing to an unranked team, and then being moved back up, thats crap. and then they pick a big ten ohio state team who chokes against the SEC everytime gets the other spot in the national championship. i am a huge UGA fan, but i think if we didn't make it, two other teams should have made it like maybe USC and kansas or west virginia. this is another reason for the playoffs i think so smaller schools in smaller conferences can prove themselves.
Agreed, If i understand the arguments from the smaller schools and conferences correctly, they want to be given a fair chance to prove themselves. I don't know of any better way to give the little guy a chance than to leave it up to those teams. I'm sure there would still be controversy around the "bubble" teams but at least this way, no one could complain that they got cheated out of their shot at the title. The national champion should be the team that can beat any team you put in front of them.
I agree UNC, but how do you determine that when there aren't 2 undefeated teams? Or if one is from the Big 10 (or Big East). I would have like to see UGA in the Championship last year but I think LSU was the right choice. The SEC Champion has undoubtedly the hardest road in the nation and given identical records, I think the SEC Champ should be given preference (but maybe I'm just biased).
As for the small schools, I feel their pain but you just can't argue for a Boise St. or Hawaii to be in the National Championship. We need a playoff system but, alas, I don't think it will happen in my lifetime.
Sad but true, the "voters" are always on the jocks of the big 10 and the pac 10. You will appreciate the fact that I don't capitalize their conferences. The SEC as a whole gets shafted every year, not just our beloved Bulldogs. At least we (the SEC nation) have another NC to be proud of, now all we have to do is take it out of the dawggone "voters" hands and not give them a choice and finish this upcoming year undefeated... Agreed? Go Dawgs!!!!
ok yes LSU had the right things happen for them to get into the title. im not a total enemy against LSU just a big UGA fan but i mean they had two shots at being number 1 and i just dont think that it was fair that they made it losing to a low top 25 team. i mean UGA couldve made it, but still they did not win the SEC which made it set that they were not going to the championship. they still with being soo hot at the end could have beat any team in the country
Does anyone else realize we were 1 FG away from probably a National Title last year? If Kentucky would have made that FG against Tennessee, we would have gone to the SEC Champ. game, likely won... (hopefully) then played OSU and did the same thing to them that LSU did....
god I am trying not to get excited about next year.. what do we have 4 months?
