Official Pens vs Flyers thread

To any Pens' fans complaining about the refs ... just knock it off.  I've been hearing that crap from other team's fans all post-season ... let's not join the excuse-making crowd.  Killing penalties is part of the game, and the Pens did a poor job tonight.  The better team won tonight.  Hell, if it weren't for J. Staal, this game would have been a blow out.  He played like a kid possessed ... it's too bad none of his teammates joined his intensity until it was too late.

On a lighter topic.  Did anyone see when that fan held up that sign "spin like a ballerina" and Fleury did it for him?  I don't care what team you pull for, that was classic!

i did see the spinorama by Fleury...thought it was pretty funny..do you think he did it on purpose?

and I could really care less if the coach did or did not talk about the refs...it is part of the game i was making a point that he would because it is part of the game..it does not bother me at all...if he didn't i would be surprised.

good post crowdog and i agree Staal was terrific although i can not stand Biron and how he pulls off the post so fast and does not get back..it is being exploited and he has yet to stop doing it...

Just as not all Flyer fans are jackoffs, not all Pens fans are saying the officiating cost this game.  I am not--I have 3  posts in the last 1/2 hour  that said the Flyers deserved to win this game.  Yes I had to grit my teeth and chug half a beer to post it, but I did, and am not doing it again. 

...it is kind of ridiculous...do you not admit that the Flyers flat out won tonight..plain and simple..just like the Pens flat out beat us 3 straight...i wish we were the ones up 3-1 going home with a chance to clinch..geez

The flyers flat out won tonight, but I will premise it with the same crap you throw out after every loss, you hit with 2 defensemen down, and the refs hate the flyers, then you say the Pens played good.

Well tonight your team came out and played hard, and took it to the Pens.  The refs sure did help the game along in the first, between the two, you all had the Pens against the wall.  That so called slash call, that set up the third goal off the power play was the biggest gimme in the series.  As far as the flyers getting screwed in the series by the refs, you need to look back at the PPs,  Game one:  3 PHI, 1 PENs, till the scrumm at the end, which made the box score look even.  Game two:  3 PHI, 5 PENs (counting the holding call, when they stopped Crosby behind the net in the last 4 seconds of the game), wow, we actually got a couple lead at home.  Game three, 4 PHI, 3 Pens, the last two coming later in the game, you all had fun on the PP in the first just like tonight.  Game four, you know the deal.  So bottomline, the refs didn't screw you, just like the Rangers had more PPs against the Pens in the last series, but swear otherwise.

Malking gave Briere an elbow in game two, well tonight and the last game, the stick work and antics on Crosby and Malkin by the Flyers have made up for that missed call ten fold.  The Pens don't like to lose, and they shouldn't, they will regroup and win on Sunday, just wondering whether it is Kennedy or Laraque who settles Richards on his slashing crap at the end of the game.

Agreed CrowDog!  You gotta deal with what the refs give ya. Sometimes they call a close game, while sometimes they let you get away with a ton.  That's part of hockey. You should be able to tell what kind of game the refs are going to call about half way into the first. If they're calling it close and you continue to hold, trip, and grab, it's your fault for not recognizing it.

I don't usually whine about calls. If you see me doing it, it's all in fun. We've all been to hockey games before, and I'm sure we've gotten on to certain players on the other team, especially their Stars or goalies. It's part of hockey. Sid even says you gotta have thick skin in the opponent's building. He knows. I wouldn't call it classless that Flyer fans are shouting "Crosby sucks!". It's part of being a hockey fan. You see the commercial with the guy in the maternity ward at the hospital? Classic hockey fan. "Loser, loser!"  lol It's all in fun.

It's been way too long since I've been to an NHL game. I really need to get my ass up to the Burgh next year to catch a couple games, or maybe head down to Tampa and South Florida like I used to when the Pens made their yearly trek. Good times!
