"Upshall did, and he paid."
OK. Whatever you say, pal. He looked find to me after all those shots to the back of his head and neck.
Yankees-Red Sox '04 Redux, baby!!!
"it was funny though, the Flyers finally grew some balls at the end of the game when Laraque wasn't out there, when on tuesday, Laraque was waiting, brave old Hatcher and Richards were no where to be found. "
Hatcher fought tonight be/c he was swarmed after Upshall nailed Staal. Think if Laraque was on the ice, they would've been going at it, but he wasn't. And I've said before on this thread, Richards would throw with Laraque. The kid fears no one. He would lose, but he would go with him.

I've been kicked in the balls many times as a Philly fan over my 31 years on this planet. Usually, I err on the side of unadulterated pessimism. Not this time, though. I've got a strange feeling this thing is coming back to Philly for Game 6. If you Pens fans aren't concerned that your boys are feeling pressure now, trust me, they'll be gripping the sticks mighty hard if Tuesday night rolls around and they're in the Wacko Center again.
Good night and good hockey!

I guess you are right we are just such a pathetic team who has no ability to hit or fight...thats why before tonight we were right there with you with hits and up three games to 0 now 3-1...I guess since we are just a bunch of pansies u guys have actually been manhandling us and you just let us win the first three games so that we wouldnt be too hurt. Or maybe your team is not as tough as they think they are...name one time where your team that is so much tougher than the pens have absolutely layed someone out as hard as you act like they can...I mean if thats the case wouldn't sid and malkin and the rest of our Stars be broken and off the ice by now...nice try but your squad is goons hence why the team with more skill and talent is winnign this series...and I guess you don't count downie as one of your players anymore since you forgot to mention him with cote...but I guess that you probably think he isn't a goon either

hate to say it but there is no pressure on the pens...because guess what if the pens lose on tuesday which i'm betting there won't be a game tuesday but if there is and the pens lose they still get to play another game...whereas the Flyers have all the pressure of knowing if they lose its tee time...have a nice summer cause the flyers season ends sunday garunteed

Well, gopens, the Flyers were the only team in hockey with 7 20-goal scorers. I guess they shoved the goalies into the net after slashing the hell out of a defenseman or two in order to score all those goals, right?
Your guys showed themselves to be pansies tonight. Especially Cindy. And that bothers the hell out of you, doesn't it? He IS the little whiny, petulant b!tch we've labeled him.
Actually, Downie is quite skilled. A bit out of control at times, but skilled.
Look, you're obviously one of these nuveau hockey fans who wants to take the hitting out of hockey. I get it. With a lineup like the Pens', I'd want that too.
Again, good night and good hockey. Or as a Flyers fan, should I have to say, "good night and goon hockey?" Haha. Peace out.

good point nyyfan4ever...its just late and i'm a little touchy having to wait two whole days before another pens game...plus its getting old hearing about how the pens are a bunch of softies and can't do anything resembling a physical game when it coulnd't be farther from the truth..I"M not saying they are the most tough team in the world but they can hold their own...not to mention a day ago Flyers fans were ready to call it a series now all of a sudden the series belogns to them even though anyone that expects them to come back should talk to the Rangers cause they thought the same thing...but i'll try to relax a little and not flip out quite as much its just so hard after a loss...lol

ok its obvious you don't know anything about hockey now...downie skilled...what kind of skill...I guess giving up the puck would be a skill if you are good enough at it...
Altough could you explain how the pens showed themselves to be pansies...they picked up roughing majors by standing up for themselves and not backing down.
And no I want hitting but hitting within the rules I just don't see the need for slashes after the whistle or crosschecks well after the whistle or rink wide charges well late when the goal is scored already and the person isn't looking etc...all that does is risk injury to everyone...but hitting during play go ahead no problem with that that is part of the game...again no proof I see as to why we are pansies besides you claiming they are

by the way what makes me a whiner the fact that I use actual facts and logical arguments in order to back up discussions...your right I should revert back to making random statements about pansies and making up girly nicknames for the best players in hockey and claim that they are girls and act like a four year old...would that make me more of a man...cause that seems to be all your boy axeman can do...ok here i'll give it a try...so do you do the throwing nyyfan or is axeman the thrower cause he really seems like the catcher to me...that better

btw there was no one trying to take a cheap shot at crosby. So i dont know what that fuss is all about. And the questionable calls yes there were some. But refs make bad calls most games. and the Flyers have got the short end of that stick all playoffs. Tonight was a great game lets not get into a war over a game. Theres supposed to be sportsmanship
Hardhitt3n...
I'm going to start this by saying that I am a huge Pens fan. But I'm a bigger fan of Hockey. The Flyers played a great game tonight and are deserving of the win. I dont care about the penalties or the no calls. We've all seen some crappy reffing in this series....hell, in the whole playoffs. It was a good win for Philly. Besides, if the Pens are going to win the conference, it would be a real treat to see them win it on home ice. Mind you, I would have been happier with a game 4 win. :)
I know that this is probably going to be viewed as crying over a loss. It isnt.....trust me, I've seen the Pens lose before. They were very much outplayed in game four. You mentioned sportsmanship. Can you honestly say that Hatcher, Richards and Upshall showed any kind of sportsmanship at the end of the game? Why not just let the time tick off of the clock and call it a day? Why did Upshall have to slam that Pens player (I dont know which one it was) into the boards? Why did Richards have to go after Crosby on the face off? And Hatcher....you've gotta be kidding me. What the hell was THAT all about? Yes... I understand that these guys were not fighting with themselves and the Pens are no angels, but all these fights were provoked by the Flyers, (slashing, glove to the face, etc...) THE GAME WAS OVER!!! HIT THE FRICKEN SHOWERS!!! SEE YA ON SUNDAY!! Would it have been so damn difficult.
And the Flyer fans in the stands...I was sickened. Can you tell me why, even though their team was winning, they would boo every time that Crosby touched the puck? And why would they yell out "Crosby Sucks" and "Malkin Sucks"? There was a lot of hockey fans watching this game at home. My 8yr old nephew was watching it with me. I heard the chants but didnt say anything because I didnt want him to notice. Finally he asked me if thats what the Flyer fans were saying. I didnt want to acknowledge poor sportsmanship involved in a game I love, so I had to make something up. I told him that they were saying "Get the Puck". (and before anyone mentions it..yes..the Pens fans booed Jagr in the previous series whenever he had the puck. He was a former Pens player who said some pretty crappy stuff about Mario and the Pens organization when he left....big difference) Also, Crosby took an elbow to the head and fell in the second period. No penalty, thats fine...I dont care about that. What caught my attention was the fans booing and making references to "diving". Sportsmanship?
You know... I understand some times when fans are sore losers. Thier emotions run high and they hold on to whatever hope they have and start mouthing off to the players and refs. But the Flyers were winning the entire game. You never heard any Pens fans yell out "Richards sucks" or "Umberger sucks" when they played at the Igloo. (Yes.. I still call it the Igloo..:)...)
Now... I'd like to think that the Flyers being down 3-0 in the series (at the time) would explain away a lot of this emtion from the crowd. But what ever happened to just standing up and cheering your team on to victory? (See games 1 and 2 as an example). Last night was the most sickening, pethetic and embarrassing display of sportsmanship that I have ever witnessed from any hockey fan anywhere. My opinion is not based on the Pens losing. If they would have won the game, I would be saying the same thing. it's based soley on what I saw out of that rediculous crowd last night. And please dont respond to this by making excuses for the fans or telling me that I am a sore loser. That would only further enhance by opinion of last night. There is NO EXCUSE. At least be a fan of Hockey and ackowledge that much.
I'm not taking anything away from the Flyers. They played a great game for the first 58 minutes. But I would have been embarrassed as a Flyer to be suported by that crowd last night.
I've said my peace.

last nights game was a well played and hard fought game on both sides of the puck - as for the hitting at the end of the game and the fights they are called leaving a calling card - letting one team know the other one is still there and are still to reckoned with - as for the poster who asked why did hartnell make the hit at the end of the game instead of letting time run out the reason is simple every player is tought to play till you hear the whistle or the horn simple as that - as for richards - crosby thing on the face-off jus goes to show that richards is getting under crosbys skin - that was the worse game ive seen malkin and crosby play think the hitting is getting to them but all in all both teams played hard and with emotion so i cant fault either side it was well played and hopefully sundays game will be jus as well played especially if timo comes back which he skates today so we will see. Good luck to both teams on sunday.
GO Flyers!!
