	Tiger pitcher Luis Marte ( whom I pointed out as a key to the future rotation ) has been promoted from A Lakeland to AA Erie over Rick Porcello. Marte ( 1.98 ERA, 41K,11BB at Class A ) will take over for Josh Rainwater who is going on the DL. It will be interesting to see how he fares as the pitchers at AA Erie have been for the most part under performing. I don't think we will see him at the big league level this year as he was only switched to started late last season. However he may be a possibility next season.

	I doubt he gets called up. As his first full year as a SP he might be high on IP by then. Last year pitched mostly in relief for West Michigan and switched to a starter late in the season. Had good numbers including a low ERA and whip around 1. Last season his total IP came to 47 mostly out of the pen. So far this season he has logged 41 in 6 games so I doubt they take a chance on his arm. The kid makes his AA debut tomorrow night.

	Congratulations to Luis Marte on his promotion to AA and good luck in his first start there. I think your right that he will spend the year at Erie and then get invited to spring training with the Tigers. Adrian82, thanks for all the good info to keep us informed on what is happening with Tiger prospects.

	In his first start at AA he went 8 IP, 4 hits for a no decision.

	Not really a steal but rather good scouting. Tigers, Indians,Dodgers plus a few other teams have schools in the latin countries. These kids are playing in the latin leagues as early as 16 and the teams that snap them up and sign them to contracts are in front of the curve.Remember there is no draft for players outside of north America. All these players latin Players Miguell Cabrerra, Albert Pulhols, Fransisco Lariano don't get drafted. So teams that can get these players signed and into their system are a step ahead of every one else. The drawback is it costs money for these academies and for every star you sign there are plenty of busts.

	Yes but wasn't Marte first signed by the Dodgers and then later cut? That might be what he was referring to. Yes that is true but they only kept him a couple months. Not sure what happened there. Don't see a lot of guys cut . However is somewhat small in stature at 5 ft 10 in. Usually teams don't cut guys that early in their career with any sort of a fastball.
