gmac ur mad!
Barber is nowhere near as good as Clinton Portis.
Portis has much better vision, he's faster and shiftier and makes better cuts.
He's also got better hands and is the best pass-blocking RB in the NFL.
MBIII is stronger... that's about it.

How was I making sure shhhht hits the fan jlaw?
Who in their right mind (outside of Cowboys fans, because none of them are in their right minds) would EVER say that Marion Barber is a better RB than either Brian Westbrook or Clinton Portis?
MBIII can't even finish off a run for Christ's sake. That's why they drafted 2 RB's this year. One who can finish off the stuff he can't do, and the other to replace him if he won't sign a new deal.
I guarantee that if he doesn't re-sign, the Cowboys engine will keep running. They have a great run-blocking offensive line, and then MBIII is the battering ram.
Westbrook and Portis are both faster players, more capable of stretching the defense in the passing game (although Barber does come in on passing downs). No team is afraid of his speed, and a good tackler will bring him down every time because he can't outrun them.
And Tiki Barber was better when he was playing (once Tom Coughlin corrected his fumbling problem).
I don't understand how ppl on the board hate me. All i do is present rational facts. Poll every defensive co-ordinator or sports commentator and they'll all say the same thing. Portis is the better football player. Even Troy Aikman, a long-time HATED rival of the Redskins calls Clinton Portis his favorite, most complete RB in the NFL and one of his favorite active players.
MBIII can't carry a load. He wears down late in games, and he doesn't even start. How can this guy command elite RB money?

When Marion Barber puts up 1400 yards and 15 TD every year then he deserves LT money. Until then be happy with $6 million a year.

I was just anticipating gmac's response
I don't argue that Portis is more complete...Barber could be better one day maybe
neither of them got anything on Westbrook tho

jlaw, forgive my homerism but I still think Portis is a better RUNNER than Westbrook. Westbrook is a much better receiver and has that added dimension to his game but i honestly think that if Portis was in that type of offense, he'd be doing the same thing, but even better.
With the entire O-line injured last year and with an inconsistent passing game, Portis still rushes for 1,200 yards and 11 TD's.
Imagine what he'd do with a healthy O-line in front of him?
The guy has rushed for 1,500 yards 3 times in a 6-year career. Westbrook has never rushed for that much.

I would say in between LT and MT because he is still young and he hasn't performed on a high level for a number of years...he is a quality running back, but he was also splitting time with Julius Jones

I would say between MT and LT, because he was pretty much the Starting RB in Dallas even though JJ got the first snap of a game.
Who knows how long he can last in a game, but thats why they drafted a couple RBs... He will out do MT this year for sure.
And Alexa... Your Avi are getting hotter every time I see you!

LT only comes out for either a quick breather or late during a blowout, is a two-time league rushing leader, scored the most touchdowns in a season and has consistently durable during the regular season. When it is all said and done, he will be regarded as one of the all-time greats and might own most RB records. Placing Marion Barber in the same conversation as LT is more than a bit premature, it's downright laughable.

Marion Barber opitimizes what is wrong with players in the league these days. I'm sure his Agent is plenty to blame also.
He has one good-great season, and he wants top back in the league money. What is wrong with proving yourself and earning your money, he certainly didn't earn it in the Giants playoff game, and who's to say he doesn't pull a "Shaun Alexander" and become an albatross around the Cowboys as Alexander became to the Seahwks shortly before he was released.
Add to that, Marion Barber is not an every dowen bakc, he proved that in the Giants game. His style is too physical to allow him to do so. His style also lends a team to believe he may be often injured. His platform in his negotiaitions is that he is the only back from last year the Boys still have, and while he should | |
