If you take a look at are Div. rivals in the Wr aspect ,we just dont compare.Sure some may think we have some pretty good Wr's that may be true. The  fact still remains these guys we got , just dont compare. The receiving corps of are div. rivials are just more talented.

(Rams-Torry Holt  vs 49ers -Bryant Johnson) Bryant is not even is his league..

(Rams-Drew Bennent vs 49ers-Isaac Bruce) Pretty even..

(Rams-Reche Caldwell vs 49ers-Arnaz Battle)Battle is better..

Overall -Torry holt gives the rams a better Wr corps! He is a number #1 WR, something we dont have..

(Seahawks-Deion Branch vs 49ers-Bryant Johnson)Branch has a slight edge..

(Seahawks-Nate Burleson vs 49ers-Isaac Bruce)Hands down nate is better..

(Seahawks-Bobby Engram vs 49ers-Arnaz Battle)Bobby has over 1,000 yards last year.

Overall-The seahawks have a great Wr Corps we fall short again..

(Cardinals-Larry Fitzgerald vs 49ers-Bryant Johnson)Are starting Wr was 3 string on their team.

(Cardinals-Anquan Boldin vs 49ers-Isaac Bruce)Lol no comment..

(Cardinals-Early Doucet vs 49ers Arnaz Battle)Arnaz for now..

Overall-They have a much better Wr corps..

My point is even though we did bring in Johnson ,and bruce that was pointless. It still makes us dead last in are Div.As far a the receiving corps go.None of are Wr's would even start on these teams, that is really sad.Are Defense will suffer another year ,for the lack of talent on offense..On paper are WR corps look horrible compared to other teams. It makes me sick to wacth us suffer like this..

If we can get to the QB and control the clock on offense, their advantage in WR becomes much less important.  However, I share your concern.  For my part, I hope the defense starts playing up to the Top 10 potential that I think it is capable of.  This also requires that the offense be better than last year, at least enough so that the defense isn't on the field for 3/4 of each game.

Holt is a great WR.  Branch was made by Brady and is now above average, but I doubt a probowler.

Bouldin and Fitzgerald!!! Is there really a need to ask who has the best core in our division.  These two are probably the best tandim in the NFL.

Are free agency WR pick up's were quite sad.  I can see Bryant, ok, maybe he's a good number 3 and some injury back-up.  I can also see Bruce, he can lead the Corp in learning Martz's offense.  But really, we didn't get an on-field baller at WR this year.  So let's hope Jason Hill and the Rookie Morgan can make a splash, cuz I don't see a chance at seeing a WR in the probowl with the WR's we have now.

Don't get me wrong.  I don't want it to sound like I'm hating on the WR crew.  It takes a team effort for them to get their opportunities.  If the offense is better, maybe we'll be able to see just how good these guys really are.  Let's hope so.

Go 9ers

I cant help, but to hate on are Wr crew.Well I guess its not really the Wr im upset with,im just so tired of all these losing seasons. And its like the niners arent making any big steps to turn it around. We are not going out to get any big play makers to help us get back to being a winning team.

Were picking up all these scubs ,and think their gonna help us win, something has to change im tired of all these losing seasons.

It is true that our WR are not the best in the division, in 1981 the 9ers won win two receivers that were also not the best. Clark was slow and Solomon dropped passes, but both fit into the system well. We have a good RB and TE to support the WR position. It is a team game and if the line can hold up these receivers will get open and move the ball. The line is where the concern should be . . .

we may have the worst receiving core in our division but we have a great running back who has the potential to be the best in our league. bottom line is that we dont do well throwing the ball...look at the stats from the games when gore carried 30+ times, if we do that consistantly we should be alright.

The Wide Receiver position has become highly overrated.  It is a passing league now, but I think  WRs are just as interchangeable as RBs.  Yes, a good WR can make you roll coverage their way.   Along those line, a good RB can make the safety come into the box (which is basically a double team on the RB).  You have to be exceptional in either case to have that respect from the defense.

However, it's all moot if there's no protection and run blocking.  Here is my personal opinion of the most important positions on the field:

1) Quarterback: You can argue this is the most position in all sports.  Maybe a starting pitcher or hockey goalie edges this out, but your opinion is probably going to come down to what sport you like the most.

2) Center: Most will say blindside tackle, but I argue the center because except for special teams, he is the only player on the field that is guaranteed to handle the ball every play.  Every play begins with the snap, and he's got to get it right.  Also, he has to call all the line calls and protection changes.

3) Blind side tackle:  You can't let your QB get drilled in the back

4) The other O-Line positions:  I'm not knowledgeable to properly argue these positions' importance over others (LG vs RT, for example), but it should be clear that I think the O-Line is the more important than "skill positions" (I hate that term).

5) RBS, WRs, and TEs in whatever order your offense predicates.

WR is a glamour position and certainly important, but it's a NOT the key to success.  Yes, Brady looked ridiculous with Moss, Welker, and Stallworth.  but he was a HoFer with Branch, Brown, and Caldwell.

The Bengals, Cardinals, and Rams all have awesome Wide Receiver corps.  Their combined record in the last three years: 61-83 with one playoff appearance amongst the three.

Yes true we don't have as good off wr's as Cardinals but the Seahawks and Rams arent that much far ahead of us. Hey you never know what Braynt Johnson turns out to be for us. and what about Asley Lelie, Jason Hill , and a Crafty veteran like Isaac Bruce. So were not on the short end of the stick far as talent, cause we have a pretty solid group so were pretty average, But ask yourself which one of these teams has a Big mis-match tight end in their huddle Well how bout a freak of nature and a Rb like Frank Gore with a quality back up like Desahaun Foster.................................. none

To add to this we have went into a rebuilding process years ago, at the same time paying off contracts to players on other teams or that has retired.  Well now we have a pocket book to open a little and bring in some experience.  We have what it takes to be a great franchise again, but the pieces aren't in the right spots at the right time.  We brought in A. Smith a rookie  QB who has been hurt often. What can he accomplish without a line.  We get Jonas Jennings as well hurt often.  We then brought in Antonio Bryant which did good, but with a rookie QB why spend that kind of money.  We get D. Jackson from Seattle and again without a productive QB again a waste of talent and money.  Our offensive line was all rookies from the start, how many of those guys are on that line now.  We had Norv Turner for a year and leaves.  Alot of these guys we have brought in are good veterans and still have got what it takes.  The problem is that the experience is never there at all times.  When they do get experience we let them go.  It never seems like we have had anything solid yet.  We do now have some good keys from the drafts, that are positives for this year.  Lawson will be back, P. Willis is our greatest plus.  Well lets say are D is there.  But what
