I'm personally not for this idea, but that doesn't mean its not worthy of discussion and consideration.  NBC Sports wrote a piece on the possiblity of trading Urlacher while the getting is good.

Angelo may not be able to pick quarterbacks, but he does know personnel. If he’s as smart as I think he is, he needs to be thinking about trading Urlacher.

He may be royalty in Chicago football lore, standing with the likes of Bill George, Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary among the Bears’ dominant middle linebackers, but the truth is that he is fourth in that group and he’s not getting any better. Trading Urlacher before the 2008 season would be the best move for a Bears team that slipped dramatically in 2007 and may be even worse this year.

He thinks that the Denver Broncos would he a suitor for the Bears if they so chose to make a deal.

If Shanahan was to send the Bears running back Travis Henry, wide receiver Brandon Stokley and linebacker Ian Gold along with two draft picks — including a first-rounder if the Broncos make the playoffs — it would be a trade that would work out well for both teams.

Henry may be busy off the field — he has fathered children with nine women — but he can run with the football. Stokley is a professional receiver who makes up in speed and toughness what he lacks in size. Gold is a thinking man’s linebacker who still moves well.

Personally, I think this would be foolish on JA.  In a cover two defense (see my thread from last month), you need a VERY quick and strong MLB who can drop back in coverage as well as tackle from sideline-to-sideline.  In this league their aren't too many MLBs who can do that.  In this year's draft I can think of maybe TWO LBs who have that capability.  The combination of size and speed is a rare thing to find in MLBs.

Here's the question I pose to you...

... With 27% of Chicago saying that we should trade Urlacher (Chicago Sun-Times poll), if THE PRICE IS RIGHT, would you trade him?

No way! I'm not even gonna give any reasons because, to be completely honest, I can't think of any. That is; I can't think of any way this trade could/would benefit us. Especially a trade that would be fair to us.

I guess I gave a reason there huh? Haha. Anyway, I will not give any more reasons. I say 100% No.

Go Bears!

Could you imagine the consequences if Travis Henry and Lance Briggs ran in the same social circles?  Everyone in Chicago would be pregnant.

Don't trade Brian Urlacher - period.

Holy Christ !!!!!     Lance Briggs has some catching up to do LMAO,   and all along I thought that Lance was trying to catch Shawn Kemp !!!

Seriously,  the trade talk does have merit but all in all, I just think that Angelo is playing possom with Urlacher right now..   In the end, maybe they are currently a little to busy with Harris and Hester to come back and rivise their initial offer to Urlacher but, Before Traing camp kicks off I think Angelo will give Urlacher his extra year (not gauranteed of course) and more Gauranteed money up front, perhaps spread out over the life of the new extension offer so it won't hurt the cap with the other needs that must be addressed......

Uralcher may miss some OTA's but that could be what the Bears want deep down anyway, make Urlacher sweat a littte before they give into his demands.

Even with a sore back and a bad neck, Urlacher still led the Bears in tackles last year plus illuding to your qoute about Urlachers value in the cover2 scheme....  Urlacher did have (17) passes defensed in 2007 (tops amongst LB's) and had (5) INT's, again (tops amongst LB's)....

His value would be hard to rplace, he is only 30 years old and many say he is on the decline but as far as IMPACT plays, Urlacher may have had his finest season as a Bear in 2007 and that alone is astonishing when you factor in all the injuries we suffered at DT which certainly made it easier for teams to focus on double team Uralcher instead of a less then healhty Tommie Harris and the other (6) DT's that rotated in and out on the injury list....

After listening to Tommy Harris' comments about Brian's contract situation (I believe it was on ABC channel 7 news), I get the impression that trading Urlcaher would destroy the defense's chemistry and unity.

Ooppss, I should have checked it out first....  Thomas Howard of Oakland managed to snag (6) INT's also finished 2007 with (17) passes defense sos I guess I was half right on that one...  Urlacher did have more sosl and combined tackles and more assists !!

Even so, that makes only (2) LB"s int he entire league that had that much success in pass defense......   I'll stick with Urlacher and expect even bigger things in 2008 with hopefully improved health for him and his D-Line mates to make his impact more profound for our Defense !!

Not for Henry, Gold, Stokley and a pick .... if you say Champ Bailey, Jay Cutler and a 2 1st rounders of course but not for the Broncos players they might be cutting anyways after June 1st

Nobody mentioned Brian's impact in merchandising and being the franchise of the Bears, it's going to be even harder to replace the revenue that generates for the Bears.  While I know Hester could eventually be that face in the future, it would be foolish for JA to trade Urlacher for garbage.  It also would
