Don't forget that the White Sox pitching is right behind the Tribe's.
They are getting great outtings by Denks, Floyd, Contreaus (please forgive spelling) and Vascaus (Ditto).
The Sox big problem is that as with the Indians the hitters are not giving them any support.
If their pitching holds up I am thinking that this race will go all the way to September. Whoever starts hitting will take this division.

The sox are legitimate. They have good pitching right now, but like he said with the Indians, the sox also are struggling with tthe hitting. And, i also agree with him in that whoever starts hitting first and keeps it going throught the year will win this division. So i really dont know what you mean by his "juice".

June, That was probably the worst spelling I have ever seen of the White Sox pitching staff . Thank god you didn't attempt Buehrle!! I agree with you, that the sox pitching has been a big surprise and looks very good right now: Danks 2.74, Floyd 3.32, Contreras 3.35, Vazquez 3.53. That doesn't even take into account the struggling Buehrle.

I don't think it's a given that they will keep this up, but neither is C. Lee or Laffey....so it could come down to the offense.

are you really comparing the White Sox pitching to the Indians? you must be out of your mind; and this is coming from a yankee fan. denks, contreras, floyd? they have a combined 10-8 record, and are pitching above expectations, wow real impressive. this is being compared to last years cy young winner (CC), the best pitcher in baseball this year (lee), and one of the youngest talents in the game (carmona). Just because your a white sox fan does not mean you have to use zero logic

Michaels

You are no doubt, mentally challeged.  The guy just floated you all the ERA's of  FOUR White Sox starters to your face in the low 3's to mid 3's and you are going to comeback with "the past" in CC's Cy Young and "a young talented prospect" ?  I am confused. What is your argument?

The other really bad comeback was saying those starters are 10-8.  Yes, they are 10-8 because of the LACK OF HITTING.  Look at the numbers Special Ed boy and you'll see a lot of 2-0, 4-1, 1-0, 5-2 type games where no hitting helped the White Sox.

Get a clue before you rant around.  Kid is throwing stats out, and you are blind.

Cliff Lee is outstanding this year for sure.  CC has been HORRIBLE, but is looking to form lately, and Fausty is still young (LIKE DANKS) who are both good young arms.

So BEAT IT!

Dutch, you are obviously confused.

The past with C.C.? Last 5 starts he has a what, 1.49 ERA?

Fausto is a 'prospect'? He finished 3rd in the Cy Young voting and is dominating.

Look, the White Sox have good young pitching and it is definitly something to be proud of. But I think his point was the Indians have great young pitching, the best rotation in baseball with currently the best pitcher, and nobody can compare, not the White Sox.

Nobody can try to compare to Clevelands. A starting rotations ERA under 3? Are you serious?! In the AL?! An All-Star rotation might not have that!

The White Sox pitching is good.  The Indians pitching is better right now.  Danks and Floyd are not pitching above expectations.  They are now pitching to expectations.  Vasquez has been great and Contreras has been solid.  Only our Lefty has struggled.

I trust this pitching staff to continue to be good (not great).  If the Sox hitting catches up then we will see a good race with the Indians.

BTW, what do Yankee fans know about starting pitching.  They pay over $200 million a year just to get dumped out of the playoffs on an annual basis.  I don't think their pitching will even get them to the playoffs this year.

The problem with the White Sox is their hitting... but, I don't see it getting any better.  They did this least year too!  The Sox score runs when they hit HR's... and that's about it.  With Paul Konerko, Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye in the middle of the order... that's all we can expect this year... and until Kenny makes some major moves, this is what we have to look forward to.  A bunch of "old" slow guys, not hitting their weight... with 25 HR's.  I like what Kenny has done... with John Danks and Gavin Floyd... hope to see Lance Broadway get some starts in the bigs this year too!  He is killing it in Charlotte!  These three young studs are the future of this pitching staff!  Now, we just need to get some guys that can hit for average and have some speed in the lineup!

My predicted AL Central final standings (based on current rosters):

  1. Indians
  2. Twins
  3. White Sox
  4. Tigers
  5. Royals

The main reason Danks, Floyd , & Contreras are 10 and 8 as you stated is because as I said before the hitters have not been supporting them. If they ever get any support and they can keep up pitching as they have been I think the White Sox will be fine.

yes he was comparing the White Sox pitching to the Indians pitching, and it wasn't ridiculous at all.  danks and floyd are young guys who are putting things together now, much like laffey and sowers for cleveland.  CC is legitimately good, but so is Javier Vazquez.  you might be surprised at how comparable their numbers are if you look.  contreras may be exceeding expectations, but there is NO doubt that lee is as well, and by a ton.  his career stats suggest this is an enormous fluke so far.  carmona may be a young talent, but he is doing really poorly so far this year - he has 2 BB for every K, and a WHIP near 2.  those are horrible numbers that scream that a correction is coming in his ERA.  he's barely doing better than buerhle.

when you line them up, the two rotations are quite comparable.  come down off your rant and realize that what the indians starters are doing is totally unsustainable.  what the sox starters are doing is not, and in a much tougher ballpark for pitchers.  they are very similar teams on offense and on pitching.

yeah...Michaels and Bigdog need to chill on the White Sox.  There is nothing wrong with comparing the White Sox pitching to the Indians pitching.  The Sox just arent producing any runs for their pitchers to win.  Their eras are low and their records to not really show for how well they haev actually played.

REC21, you're pretty lost with your prediction of the AL Central final standings.  How can you possibly have Detriot finishing in 4th place based on current rosters?  Isnt that the same team that was predicted to win over 100 games?!?!  They are only 6 games out in an average yet competitive AL Central.  To me they are still going to take the division.  The Indians will finish in 2nd, the Sox will finish in 3rd and will finish around the .500 mark.  The Twins will finish in 4th, I believe that they are just over achieving right now.  And the Royals will finish in last.

Just need my softball offense to prove that last year wasn't the beginning of mass decline in all their careers. Just bring things within sight of career average for all of them and they'll be in this thing.

I can see the Indians in this argument. Hell of a pitching staff. But the White Sox? How about the Royals? The pitching staff is amazing for this team. Greinke and Bannister are a tough 1-2 punch. Tomko is starting to pitch better, and Hochevar is pitching great. If they gave Meche some run support the Royals would be top of the division.
