Everyone go to AL.om and read about how he got red flagged for his ACT. This is not as bad as it seems(I hope) but GD GD GD. Give me a MF break.  Get your SH*T together and play ball!

I guess it has a little good and bad in it!  The good is that his scores at least went up, I just hope up enough to enroll on June 1.  The bad is if he did make high enough it is not really fair for him to have to wait until the next summer semester to enroll.  Oh well at least he wasn't caught cheating or going to jail.  Here is the link to the story.  Roll Tide

Thanks for the thread, TP14, and the link ski.  I wonder why they don't release the actual test results?  Maybe that's just too personal.  Where Alonzo is now in his educational capabilities is the culmination of 12 years of prior schooling.  If that were inadequate, I would hate to see him suffer.  My understanding of the "red flag" deal actually sounds as though he qualifies for "special circumstances" - which may greatly aide his predicament.  I sure hope so!

Take this for what its worth. One of my friends knows a booster from George County. It seems that Mr. Lawrence went from a 15 to a 24(9 point increase) so that is why he was flagged. Again purely hear say.

Alright he was red-flagged, if he does have learning disabilities does he get special treatment because he can play ball?

It stated he did good in orals, but how many other students in universities get to take orals? I thought that was reserved for Phd's.

Does it really matter if he gets to take all of his test orally or not, atleast the guy is doing something with his life. I see your point though Red, is it strictly because he is a ball player or what?

Trust me I prefer to see anybody trying to make something of their life whether it be handicapped, learning disable, or fully functional over some sorry @$$ that prefers to live off of the govt. teet and cry poor me I can't do it. Good for him, for trying and hopefully he makes it in with no complications.

As a student athlete he has more than enough outlets for help. I wasn't bashing him at all I just want evereyone who signed to play. If he is LD I think its great that he is using his talent to get a college education. I just hope the system isn't  getting abused and it does not come back and bite us in the A@@

TP14 - I never thought of you as bashing him in any sense, merely as presenting the topic, and aspects of each side of the picture.  If he improved from a 15 to a 24, Alonzo deserves a college education, imo.  Just presenting a fact, I scored a 28 and it was the highest in the HS.  Not intended as bragging in any way, just to point out what a small difference that is.  If there weren't more student athletes being given tutoring to help improve scores, I'd keel over.

My bad - I forgot one other aspect of this.  Usually most grad students, for me and those I knew in grad school, fear their oral exams more than most any other test form.  They're on the spot, have to respond in a decent verbal manner as well as knowing the material.  A nine point jump is just incredible.  These comments are obviously my opinion, and only that... not challenges to prior posts.

Xerxes10  I agree 100% with you. I scored a 21 and never took it again. Nine points is alot. If he did it good job lonzo if not he will be at Perk and do what Nakita Stover had to do. Either way he will wear Crimson it just might be later than sooner.
