I was very happy to hear this news. So far we have 2 states that have proven to not be run by a bunch of bigoted, closed-minded, asshats. Hopefully the rest of the states follow suit in a timely manner.
It warms my heart to see all these fundamental religious idiots losing their grip on political persuasion.
EXTREMELY well stated Jason! I was going to post this thread myself a few days ago, but decided that I didn't have the time nor the energy to deal with it.
I for one am glad to know that I live in a state where people can do as they please without being DISCRIMINATED against.
It is funny, the religious right is fine with two ex-convicts who have done the most heinous acts possible (we can go with murder and severe child abuse in this case) getting married if they are male and female, but blow a gasket if two very loving, great citizens of our country want to get married just because they happen to be born of the same sex. It is so illogical and asinine that it makes my head spin.
The religious right should picket with signs reading, "Marriage for different sexes regardless of anything else, but no marriage for the people we choose to discriminate against!"
Seriously.... in the United States, we allow girls to get married as young as 13 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't see the religious right out picketing there. So the religious right says it is OK to get married when they are still children (probably because they are children having children and God forbid that someone has a child out of wedlock before it is born), yet it is not OK for two consenting adults to get married just because they happen to be of the same sex. It is absolute lunacy.
Once again people, HOMOSEXUALITY IS GENETIC!!!!!!! Wake up to the 21st century!!! The horse and buggy days are over!!!
If you don't believe it is genetic, scroll down toward the bottom of the link below and see example after example after example of evidence pointing toward this:

Would you tell a person of color that they can't get married? Would you tell a person of color that they can't drink from your water fountain? What about hermaphodites? Let's ban them getting married too.... after all they are just "freaks" right? Let's ban midgets from getting married because after all they are just "freaks" too. No circus folk can get married.... more "freaks." How discriminating are you people? Seriously! Especially those of you that covet the Bible and pretend to live like Jesus who never discriminated against anyone and say that you are not to judge. Come on! Spin it any way that you want to, but it is so obvious that anyone can see it and deep down inside, you know you are guilty of it too.
And by preventing gay marriage, what do you think you are stopping? Do you really think that they will not have sex if you prevent them from getting a completely meaningless piece of paper with the words "Marriage Certificate" on it? No... it won't stop ANYTHING!!! All it does is illustrate to the world how hypocritical the religious right is. People that preach love and not judging others put their hypocrisy on full display here... all over a worthless piece of paper.
I know.... now you will say something stupid like, "If it is a worthless piece of paper, then let us have it." The facts are that our country pretends that everyone has the right to be treated equal.... thus, if the religious right gets to have that worthless piece of paper, then so do homosexuals. To do otherwise is discrimination no matter which way anyone wants to try and slice it.
It is a sad, sad day when athiests and agnostics have to teach the religious right about how to not judge and how not to discriminate against others. Jesus must be so proud that his followers don't have the faintest idea of what Jesus the man was all about at the core of his being. "Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, that you do unto to me".... Cool... keep discriminating against Jesus!
For those of you that are not religious and are against it, then you have no excuse other than hatred, bigotry, ignorance or all of the above. Read the science and educate yourselves. After all, you might end up with a homosexual son/daughter, niece/nephew, grandson/granddaughter one day... then watch 95% of you quickly change your minds.
Stop HATING and start LOVING. They aren't affecting you nor I, they just want to be treated like equals... is that really too much to ask?
Thanks for fighting the cause Jason for which you have no personal gain in doing so, other than to help end discrimination of other human beings.
Cheers!
