Kyle Fogg, a 6'-3" Class of 2008 shooting guard out of California, has apparently been turning a lot of heads recently at the various season ending high school tourney's.  The following snipet comes from ESPN's recruiting page:

Fogg may be the best unsigned senior in the west. This hidden gem has a lot of upside not to mention the frame, athleticism, and attitude to be a devastating defender at the next level. He has long arms, excellent lateral quickness, and has some bounce as well. His skills are still developing, particularly his handle, but he displayed a solid burst to the basket and can score effectively in the paint. His jump shot is more than solid and he has a smooth release as well. Fogg - think Ty Abbott at Arizona State - has a bright future and should end up somewhere at the high-major level by the time the spring signing period comes around.

On Rivals, UNLV is listed as Fogg's first college choice, and ESPN lists UNLV and USC as being the only two schools on Fogg's radar.

Any word on just how hard we might or might not be looking at this kid?

I read a couple of weeks ago that he was going to be attending a prep school for this upcoming season.

I've read that this is a possibility as well.  I guess we've been looking at him for a while now.  Perhaps when Bellfield signed, that closed the book on Fogg (as well as the guard from Findlay Prep).

Just throwing it out there, ya know.  If Jasper does finally become a Rebel, the best scenario would then probably be to give the last 2008 scholarship to Rene, and then sign two high school kids (take your pick) for 2009-10.

FYI

The Arizona basketball team is in the running for Kyle Fogg, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard. His AAU coach, Dino Trigonis, said Fogg is scheduled to visit the campus this weekend. Fogg averaged 25 points a game last season as a senior for Brea Olinda (Calif). High. ESPN's recruiting service says Fogg may be the best unsigned senior in the West right now. UNLV is also listed as a choice.

Arizona has scheduled a visit for Fogg. Olsen has two open schollies, and maybe a third if Buddinger leaves. A Rivals article says UA is recruiting KF "hard". Lute's program is in a bit of disarray with the whole coaching staff being turned over. Maybe that will create some doubt for Fogg. Can't tell how many coaching years Lute has left after last years side-show.

Did you see that one of the Cat's top recruits just asked to be released from his loi, he said the same thing that hoop just mentioned, all of the assistant coaches that recruited him are gone. I can't remember his name, but he is the big guy from Brewster Academy. Come on KF join the Rebs, even though it seems we have a ton of 1 and 2's, we do love to shoot the 3, and we have plenty of guys to rebound now.

Go REBELS!

True enough, sdsufan.  It became a done deal tonight.

With Hawkins coming in next season, I think we were pretty much set at the 2 spot.  The 3 and 4 spots are probably greater needs at this point.
