So the Jaguars.com site was a cool new feature that gives you links to news about the Jaguars as well as other teams of interest....and MAN does the new OC of the Titans not think much of his receivers.

Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger(hee hee...Dinger...lol) talks with his players, including tight end Bo Scaife (80), during practice Tuesday at Baptist Sports Park. Heimerdinger says he'd rank the receivers "all in a giant wad."

-Tennessean

ow.  wonder if he calls Vince Young a interception throwing freak.

lol that is sooooooo funny. i am sure that if i was heimerdinger i would have told jeff fisher to F off cause fisher didnt go after any of the wide recievers. they could have gotten two really solid ones in the first 2 rounds

I wonder if he was behind the Titans taking Chris Johnson in the first round of the draft.  Or what he silently said to himself after they picked him.

If there wasa team that had a worse WR situation than the Jags the last few years, it's those Titans......QB that cant throw + WR that cant catch= being swept by the Jags in 2008, math is a funny thing.

I wonder if he was behind the Titans taking Chris Johnson in the first round of the draft.  Or what he silently said to himself after they picked him

Example of many quotes:

Hawkins, already being compared to receiver Derrick Mason, has been timed running 4.4 seconds in the 40. He said he can't compare to Johnson, who he remembers thinking at the Senior Bowl in January was too fast.

"I'm going to say his speed is called ridiculous. I'm just one of those guys that can run a little bit. But if you give him any little thing, he can go,'' Hawkins said.

Fisher said Johnson isn't just fast running straight.

"It's useful speed. It's combined with lateral quickness. When you say you've got a guy with track speed playing football, some guys are track guys trying to play. They don't have lateral quickness and change of direction. That's what he has: excellent acceleration,'' the coach said

Of course, IMO, mini-camps let the backs look good, but it's really only a partial measurement on how they will do during a real game.

He (Heimerdinger) played a  role in the selection of Johnson...and after the first mini-camp, the Titans are completely blown away by him.  The OC (formerly from Cal) says Johnson looks better than Reggie Bush was at USC (sounds like rivalty talk to me) and Lavelle Hawkins (who played w/ Deshean Jackson at Cal) says his CJ's skills and speed are a whole other level.  One of the rookie linebackers, Stan Kegler of Purdue) said he had never seen anthing like it.

I hope you're right. I think that 1st game of the season could be huge.

I see why they took a guy like CJ. They have no speed or receiving capabilites out the backfield. They felt he or Felix Jones may open things up for the WR they have. I'm not so sure about that, but that was their reasoning.

Yeah, I agree. I'm really surprised they didn't grab a WR in Round 1 or 2. They did get a decent WR in Lavell Hawkins....but not a game changer. They could have traded down and picked up and extra 2nd or 3rd rounder and STILL gotten a top WR. Howver, many no other NFL teams picked WRs in round 1 either. Most believed the value was not there until the second round.

I'm sure everybody's seen Chris Johnson's youtube video "This is what 4.2 speed looks like".  If I was on defense looking at this dude one on one, I would just pass out.  That dude HAS to be faster than Devin Hester.  Put this dude and Lavell Hawkins on the field at the same time and the Titans can be working with something.  As long as neither one of them gets hit too hard.  They are both light as pinkies.

also. all the talent the Titan WADS have is meaningless if Vince Young continues his downward slide....and a new OC with a short temper might make him snap...wouldn't be surprised if he ended up benched and replaced by Collins mid season.
