Well you got me on the being self ritcheous part. But what you didn't know is my friends and I decided to take a shot every time Ginobli made a three last night, and well you can guess the rest. but i digress. My point is that I personally do not watch a game and look for reasons why a team won or lost as being completely on the shoulders of the refs. Why do that when their are so many other reasons as to why a team wins or loses. The Spurs - Hornets series isn't a series where the bad calls in the game decided much at all. They were all blowouts. I do agree that in close games a couple bad can make one believe that the game is fixed, but to me that is just one small part of the game. The sad part is only one team can win a series, so no matter what anyone says or does, I know the There will always be those who feel cheated because of those. In my self ritcheous statement (lol) if you could get past the pride I felt last night cause the Spurs forced a game seven - You would see a nice little tidbit that simply meant "enjoy the game"

DJ, well, I wish I was drinking, might have eased the loss a little better, lol. Not, trying to pick on you, glad you were enjoying your win.

It sucks losing. And any kind of momentum the Hornets tried to get, they were slammed by fouls. It it seems the Spurs were doing the same things but no calls, thats what upsets me. Refs can kill momentum and take a team out of their game just as much as an opposing team. Granted the Hornets could hit the side of a barn lat night it was still a close game at half, and they tried to make a run at the start of the third that was immediatly stiffled by 4 fouls in less than a minute. that just bothers me.

This game 7 will be one heck of a game.

Black n gold,

You are right about calls taking away from the momentum of the game, but what really matters to me is how the players react to the calls. Do they let the calls bother them and screw up their game, or do they accept the call, and move on. B-Ball players need a short memory, much in the same way a Quarterback does. That combined with  playing  D, making shots,  moving the ball around are what wins the games, not the refs. Without the refs we would have streetball, and while that would be entertaining in its own right, streetball is not a billion dollar industry and the NBA is.

And yes  - game 7 should be good.

Can;t wait for it

Exactly how I felt in game 5 broI agree B100d, it's been that way the whole series. To me it takes away from the game. Which makes it no fun to watch. Knowing one team is getting jobbed on calls. I wouldn't be really upset if the Hornets were getting straight up beat by skill and an evenly called game. That's basketball.  Homecourt "ref" advantage should not determine a game.

I get that. You have to admit though, that when the refs call things a certain way, it's hard to overcome it no matter how much you try to block it out.

I'm getting mentally tired just watching these guys duke it out. It's crazy!

the NBA appears to be refereed from an entertainment standpoint rather than a competitive one.  When there are clearly different sets of rules depending on who you are, then it no longer is the game of basketball, it is the entertainment spectacle that is basketball.

This is probably the best description I have come across as to what we are seeing.  Think "Harlem Globetrotters".  And I think thats all the true basketball fans are saying.  We just want to see basketball, not the "entertainment spectacle" that basketball has become.

As far as last nights game, and others during the series as well, I don't think you can say that the refs calls dont influence a game because it was a blowout.

Think about this:  Early in the 3rd quarter, it was 60-55 Spurs.  The Hornets stopped the Spurs on 4 straight possessions.  The Hornets possessions resulted in a missed shot, an offensive foul in transition against CP3, another offensive foul against CP3 and another missed shot.  Now on the one where Bowen ran alongside of Paul and CP3 pushed off, I thought he pushed only after Bowen had cut in front of him.  If that had been Tony Parker being chased by Jannero Pargo, they would have called a blocking foul.  Then, after those 4 possessions, the next 2 times the Spurs had the ball, they called fouls on West, followed by a technical.

Suppose they call blocking instead of charging against CP3?  Maybe the Hornets convert one possession, and maybe shoot freethrows a second time.  A 5 point lead is cut to one, and the Hornets are on a roll.  Instead, as a result of 4 whistles in 90 seconds, the score is 66-55, both West and Paul have 4 fouls and the Spurs are rolling to a win.  Yes, the refs can influence a game that is a blowout.  Maybe without the refs, it doesnt become a blowout.

i dont understand why everyone is talking about all of these calls and how the game was a blowout because of it.  The reason it was a blowout was because the Spurs played great defense and hit all their open shots.  The Hornets played terrible defense and had no answer for what san antonio was
