Last night we beat the Jazz at home to finish the series in 6 games. Kobe Bryant was really good in this series other than the game where he had his back spasms. He averaged 33 a game. Lamar Odom was a good role player in this series. Vujacic made some 3's and Gasol was good, ut not as good as he was in the first series. There was also Derk Fisher. He is an amazing player, who is clutch and a great leader. Laker fans know what he is capable of, but other than that people don't really know him. In this series it was his shut down defense that helped us win. I think he is a great player, but really underrated. Tell me what you think.

Go Lakers

Derek also averaged 14 points a game in this series and 3.5 steals. He is a key part of our offense and defense.

Fish is the man! I've loved him for year's and getting him back  this year was easily the second biggest acquisition behind Pau Gasol (some might even argue the biggest).  He has consistenlty been one of the best role players in the game for the last couple of years!

Sorry to say stribs23, he's been the best role player for the Lakers ever since he came to the team originally and was a major yet under rated player in the Shaq/Kobe era.  I think the Laker fans didn't necessarily appreciate how big a role he played until he left and we got stuck with "Smush" Parker.

With Farmar & Sasha both having sub par games against the Jazz, DFish was consistent a PG and you can tell the drop off defensive intensity wise when he's not on the floor.

Jordan Farmar should learn as much as he can while Dfish is still playing as a Laker, you couldn't ask for a better role model

not only did he avg 14 pts a game and 3.5 steals. he shot something like 60% from behind the arc!  this kind of reminds me when he did it one of the championship years when he had some ridiculous percentage from behind the arc.

I think the Laker fans didn't necessarily appreciate how big a role he played until he left and we got stuck with "Smush" Parker.

Amen to that!  While the fans may not necessarily appreciate what Fisher means to this team, we can all rest assured that the Laker organization knows exactly what Derek Fishers means to this club.  I've said this many, many times before - the subtraction of Smush Parker and Kwame Brown are almost as significant a roster move as the addition of Fisher & Gasol.

The key to everything this season - and this should not be lost on the Laker faithful - has been the development of Andrew Bynum.  I know he's a little, "outta sight, outta mind" right now, but Bynum's emergence in the first half of this season is the principle catalyst to the Lakers success this season.  His strong play early on helped to lock Kobe in while reinforcing his belief in this team - it also made the void that much more pronounced when he got hurt, which - let's face it - essentially led to the acquisition of Pau Gasol (big assist to Mitch Kupchak.)

But, yes, if there was any such thing as a co-MVP team award, Fisher deserves to win it.  His veteran presence in the clubhouse, his unique relationship with Kobe, his tutelage of Farmar, and his overall calming influence and steady hand are so important and so vital to what this team is accomplishing this season.  I still maintain that the Fisher / Williams matchup in this last round was a major key to our winning and the Lakers moving on.

And then there is LO, please don't get me started...he is so ridiculously clutch right now that I'm not sure any of us actually realize what Lamar is bringing to the table these days!!!

I have loved Derek Fisher since The championship days when I was about 8 years old about 8 years ago, and hes always makes big plays when they mattered most and in this series his defensive prescence is amazing all over the floor forcing turnovers and playing good on the ball D. thank god he came back to LA and that will be the differnce from the Lakers being good to being a championship contender.

Lakers 2007-2008 champions

Derek Fisher is certainly worthy of the title "Mr. Clutch" IMO. I mean, who can forget 0.4? Im willing to bet some non-laker fans know what im talking about. Certainly Spurs fans! lol Im still amazed by the way he stepped big late in game 4 with those 3's. also the way he flew into the crowd in the Nuggets series. hes willing to do anythin for his team 2 win. Glad hes back where he belongs!
