If Smith and Wallace = Gooden, then that clearly is a slam dunk for the Bulls, since Smith and Wallace earn $19.6M this yr and the Bulls got a trade option for the $7M Gooden--who's worth every penny of that $7M if not more, that's an expiring contract option should we want to trade it--whcih at this point I'm not sure if we do.

Plus we received a $5.2M trade exception for Smith, since that transaction was treated separately....so it's an even better trade for the Bulls....not to mention that Hughes is at this point a far better player than Wallace....even though neither is awesome....

Cavs should have waited....this trade doesn't make them title contenders, and will make them drop next yr (When Wallace declines further and Joe Smith no longer has a career yr, and Wally is his no defense, inconsistent self who makes WAY too much money and is hardly in Kyle Korver's realm these days, and yet Korver makes at least 1/3rd of Wally's salary....

Lebron's talents will be wasted in Cleveland, I think this is the trade that seals him leaving!

Majoyenrac,

I agree with you on all fronts except I am not certain the trade will make LeBron James leave in 2 years. I just think the trade was not thought through by the Cavaliers. Money wise it was a bad move and besides West all the players the Cavs got are on the major decline with big contracts. West is an OK PG in this league and one would be foolish to think he will ever be a great PG.

My main point was that Wallace was the big piece that the Cavs got and he just does not fit on that team. Wallace would be good on the Pistons, Warriors, or even the Spurs. He NEEDS four other offensive threats on the floor with him to spread the opponents defense or he becomes a major liability. The Cavs do not even have enough scorers to take some pressure off LeBron, now they have Ben Wallace out there and nobody needs to even guard him. Therefore opponents can through as many Deffenders as they like at LeBron to slow him down.

It was just a bad trade all the way around for the Cavs. Maybe West will be a better PG then I think, but that still does not offset the other stuff in my opinion.

I am saying that trade will make Lebron leave in a few yrs after he's seen fully all the blunders Danny Ferry has made and wasted his remarkable talents...I know they made the finals last yr but they weren't really a threat against the West powers last yr, and I think they are already a worse team this yr, and I know they will be even that much worse at this point next yr.

Fact is West might be an ok PG, but he likely won't be a great PG, and if he turns into a great PG it won't be for another 3 yrs and is a slim chance from happening anyway....

Lebron's not going to want to rebuild, which he'll have to do in 2 yrs after Wallace (who now is a mediocre PF making superstar money becomes a $14M bench player), and Wally's deficincies have already made his signing worse than Wallace's....

Big Z ain't getting any younger and is and has been on the decline.

Varejao ain't getting any better offensively and already gives you more production than Wallace because he's better offensively and doesn't have that Wallace ego.

The Cavs need some scoring, and they ain't getting that for a few more yrs....it'll be James' team.

Sure they have some size down low, and solid D down low, but in those clutch moments they need another real scorer or 2 and they don't really have any....and even their decent scoring big man has been slipping....

Just not a good trade, I think Lebron'll opt out to go to a better run club in a few short yrs...

I mean Miami realized this is a serious issue so they threw in the towel this yr and benched Wade and Marion and kept Haslem on the shelf and played a development league team.....they want 1 more guy and if they get that guy (which they likely will in this supposed to be awesome at the top dream draft) they'll be back by the tail end of next yr.....

Cleveland is a team on the decline at a point when their uber-superstar, top 5 player in the league continues to get better and better!!!

If the cavs are struggling then i bet every team wishes they could struggle after making a trade... Pushing the #1 seed to 7 games isn't struggling.  That is called over achieving.  Or the Lebron factor.

I am not saying the Cavaliers are struggling. I am saying that Ben Wallace was not the player that Cleveland should have spent 15 million dollars a year on. They should found a better trading partner or just simply waited till the offseason. LeBron James is the only reason the Cavs are winning at all. Did anyone notice who sat on the bench when things got close in the fourth? Ben Wallace. He is a liability. I am glad he is the Cavs problem now and not the Bulls.

Also I would love to see LeBron and company take out the Celtics. I am more a Cavs fan then a Celtics fan. Garnett being denied a ring again with a great team around him would be ironic. Besides LeBron vs Kobe in the Finals would be a great matchup.

Big ben's contract is a much better contract to have then Larry Hughes... now we have tons of expiring contracts the next two years that we can use to trade... or sign new free agents.
