Sports Illustrated has ranked the top five most dirty sports players of all time...  and the number one most dirty player ever is BILL LAIMBEER!

As a Detroit Pistons fan I have always loved Bill Laimbeer.  He was a hard nose player that drove other players crazy!  Was he dirty?  Well, he definitly got in the trenches so I guess I will call him "dirty".  Either way, I still love him...

Who is your most dirty player?

The SI article stated that Bill Laimbeer was the enforcer of the Bad Boys. The true enforcer of the Pistons was Rick Mahorn. Bill was the type of basketball player, you would love to have on the team. The most dirty player in sports history has to be Conrad Dobler.

I have to agree with cnote1964 that Conrad Dobler has to be one of the dirtiest players since I've watched professional sports.  I think Bill Romanowski would also rank right up there with Dobler.

Any dirties players in all sports lists without Chris Simon hasn't looked very far. His number of suspensions for cheap shots has set records. Romanowski is a definite for the list. I never saw Dobler so I only know reputation on him.

Mahorn wasn't with the "Bad Boys" the whole time while Laimbeer was. Mahorn missed the second title and the last years of the "Bad Boys." Laimbeer has earned his position on the top 5 dirtiest players in the game. I watched a lot of games when Laimbeer was here and he played a physical style and he did use a lot of "tricks" on the boards and on defense. It's hard to say all of them were dirty since the ref never blew the whistle. Mahorn has earned consideration as well. Some of Mahorn's moves weren't really dirty, but they made opponents look bad and upset them. The step back when leaning on each other in the post still gets his name mentioned and that move was just good defensive basketball. I still wonder what would happen if these two ended up coaching the Pistons.

Good call on Chris Simon, he should be in the top 5.

The idea of Laimbeer is interesting...  he did a great job with the Detroit Shock but as a women's basketball coach I fear he will never get the chance in the NBA.  He needs to get on as an assistant somewhere.  I would love to see him coach somewhere, I think he would produce a hard nose team.

Not as sure about Mahorn, what is he doing now?

Chuck Cecil? The guy got banned from the NFL for spearing players repeatedly if I remember correctly. Man, was he a fun hitter to watch though.
