The officials did their best, but the Wings still overcame the Stars.  This should have been a shutout for Osgood, since the Stars only got a power play goal that should not have happened at all because Morrow knocked Lidstrom to the ice away from the puck (interference) and swung the puck around for the shot that went in.

All the chickensh-- calls went against Detroit tonight and they still dominated.  How can the power plays be 8-3 in favor of Dallas?  In an elimination game, down 4 goals, Dallas doesn't  get called for penalties?  Come on.  I just hope the next round won't be an NHL sanctioned "coronation" for the savior, Sid the Kid.

Message to Babcock: the fact the Wings looked faster than ever tonight and played tough defense with Chelios scratched from the game was not a coincidence.  He cost the Wings two goals the last two games.  Keep Cheli off the ice against the Penguins, bring back Franzen and let the Wings roll right through the Finals.  GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!

My goodness, stop complaining about the officials.  The Wings dominated this game and shut the door on the Stars.  They had the better talent and did not wilt into a Game 7.  Yeah, they missed the Morrow call, but just because it was 8-3 does not mean it was not the correct calls.

As for the Finals, this series is very interesting.  Both teams fly up and down the ice, stiffing D's (at least in the playoffs) and solid goaltending.  The one thing that would concern me about the Wings is it looked at times in the Stars series that they could get push around a little, especially against the Stars.  Well, that did not matter last night, but wonder if it would be a difference maker for the Pens.

Exactly correct. The officiating in this series was not at all good. You hate to think they didn't actually want a Red Wing Sweep but that is how it looked.
The team that scored first won every game right? Well, Detroit DID score first in game 4. I don't think there would have been a game 5 or 6 had Kelly not had an hallucination.
Turco was beautiful: "well, its a judgement call". Well yeah! The judgement is was Holstrom in the paint or not?

I think in the end the Stars lost the series on Saturday when they were yapping at the Wings from the bench. From the way they came out in the first period, it looks to me like the Wings didn't appreciate that too much.

As much of a fan as I am of not calling out the officiating, if you Detroit Red Wings fans think you've seen the wrath of the NHL bias against a team by playing the Dallas Stars, you are all in for a very rude awakening. The Pittsburgh Penguins, although, as many of their fans have pointed out, have a similar penalty rate as the other teams they have faced, many announcers and fans (including Barry Melrose) have quickly pointed out, it's not so much what's called, as what's not called. The NHL refs have made it a point to demonstrate that Sidney Crosby is untouchable, he has even patented this little head-snap move to draw high-sticking penalties without being called for diving. Next in line are the semi-untouchables. Higher powers help the Wings if Nicklas Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski get matched against Marion Hossa and Evgeni Malkin. Malkin (who I used to be a huge fan of, regardless that he plays in Pittsburgh, and I still believe is the best player on his team) can clearly been seen as taking whacks and punches at opposing teams players, the refs just shy away. Hossa has been playing "great" defense this post-season. Look no further than the Rangers series, 2-on-1 Rangers opportunity, Hossa skates back, hooks down Nigel Dawes, no call, called a great defensive play by the announcers. Same period, 2-on-1 Penguins opportunity, Rosival skates back, does exactly the same play Hossa did, gets called for a penalty, results in a tie-breaking, game-winning goal, called "sloppy" by the Rangers D.

I'd like to see an Original 6 win this, and I like the Red Wings whenever they aren't playing the Nashville Predators, because they are the exemplar of how the NHL should work and the teams should be run. 5-vs.-5 I think they are more than capable of beating the Penguins handily, the issue becomes, will this be 5-on-5 or 5-on-8 with the refs becoming involved in yet another Cup series? I think, unfortunately for Detroit, that this WILL be nothing short of the NHL finally getting to slam the crown on Crosby's head, no matter if they have to force it there or let them earn it.

Quit your crying and move on, you won the game and I saw plenty of questionable calls including the first goal where it was clearly goalie interference. The best team won and there was no cheating the refs do the best they can and there could be a call on every trip down the ice. Maybe Detroits Zetterberg could show a little more respect and not skate around before the National Anthem was through playing. You probably didn't see that on TV, but us Stars fans at the game thought it was mighty disrepectful. All whining aside I think Detroit is the best team in hockey in the last 20 years and I would be surprised if they don't win it all in 5.

Mathole, you are speaking on deaf ears. Wingnuts have no concept of the term sportsmanship. If they lose, then it is the refs, lucky bounces, their team being off, etc.  as an excuse. They can never admit defeat and instead summize "well our better team lost that game because (fill in the blank)".  And then when they win it is even worse, not only do they use the same excuses to downplay the other teams talent (i.e. "the only reason you guys weren't swept is because the refs helped you out") but then they gloat on and on about how their team and town is god's gift to hockey while taking potshots at the other teams players and fans. Sore losers and sore winners. Are things so bad in Detriot that you guys cling on to anything good happening and run with it just so you can feel better about yourselves. This IMHO is the main reason people do not like the Red Wings, because their ambassadors (fans) are just as bad if not worse than Yankee fans with their arrogance and self-entitlement. Finally a real team to the cup final? WTF, your guys original 8 elitism is appalling. Of course you guys probably believe the only real team out there is the Wings.
