Not an impact big man in JC but will give us some size.

"Multiple sources indicate now to Peegs.com/Inside Indiana that 7-foot, 255-pound center Tijan Jobe will sign a letter of intent with Indiana today. Jobe is a sophomore now at Olney Central College in Illinois and has two years of college eligibility."

Lord knows we need help in the Bigs, but he seems to be awfully raw.

Sutton (6-10) is scheduled to make an announcement on May 21st. It is down to IU, Seton Hall and 'Nova. The young man is from Maryland and played on the Indiana Elite AAU squad that just competed recently @ IU.

On a side note....Negedu (6-7 power forward) just rec'd his full release from his LIO to Arizona today. He listed the 4 schools he will choose from as Tenn, GT, IU and Memphis. My bet is on Memphis though since the main asst that got him to Zona is now at Mempis.

I wouldn't get overly excited about Jobe...he averaged 3 points and 3 rebounds last year at his JUCO...but then again maybe his specialty is setting picks.

Clearly no one will be jumping up and down about this recruit.  At least there are some bigs in the pipline (Thanks for the comment Keith).

He did average 6 blocks at well, but it is widely stated that he is quite raw on the offensive side of the court. He has a 7'-5" wingspan and will dunk anything within 5 feet of the rim. They also said he can run the court quite well and is a very "high-character" kid who goes to class everyday. Being that he is from Gambia and has only been in the states for 4 years I suspect he is quite grateful for where he is at in life right now.

I am not exactly fired up about this signing, but if Sutton doesn't join the Hoosiers, it seems like a good plan B.  Sutton was raw, maybe not as much as Jobe is, but Sutton also need to add some weight.  Jobe at 7-0 255 lbs. seems better from a physical standpoint.  If he can give us 10 minutes of blocking and altering shots,  a couple of offensive rebounds, and a put-back dunk or two, he will be a big help.  This is a smart move on Crean's part.  There is not a whole lot out there this late.  We still may have a shot at Negedu or Sutton and I would feel a whole lot better if we get one of those two to add to next season's roster.

This is not a bad recruit by any means.  Coach Crean does have the ability to help players develop.  A big body is not a bad thing.  If he has the heart and drive to play, then I'll welcome him with open arms.  The talent will develop.

Listen guys, I said don't get overly excited about this recruit, which means that there is still a certain amount of excitement to be had...if for nothing else than the direction that Crean is taking the Crimson...

on another note...did y'all see that IU received another 2009 committment from an Indiana boy by the name of Jordan Hulls...point gaurd sensation...even Duke was after this kid....did I happen to mention I really like the Crean hire??

The Jordan Hulls signing is excellent.  I like how Crean has recruited a lot of in-state talent and players with ties to the state.  Crean is the man and it is going to be very interesting to see what we can do next year.
