This is all that golf fans wanted to hear.  Tiger Woods will be back in the field of play, ready to dominate.  He may take a few months to recover as he's been without competition for over a month.  I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the Buick - it seems like he always does - but this year may be a different story.  After going through another surgery I think Woods will be a step back from his normal level of play, for at least a couple of months.

Basically, golf ratings will shoot through the roof now that he's back on tour.  Did anybody really care about the Sawgrass other than the fact that Sergio Garcia finally won something? And the 17th hole - the island from hell?  Basically Tiger Woods is golf and without him nobody would really care.  Perhaps if we were never exposed to his marvels, things would be different, and maybe Mickelson would be a smaller version of the Woods phenom.

Now that I'm done talking gibberish, somebody else please comment on him coming back. Too tired to speak english.

Tiger is true to his sponsors (i.e. Buick), but not to all of his fans.

Apparently Tiger Woods does not know what it means to miss New Orleans.  For the 11th consecutive year, since his first full season as a pro in 1997, Woods will did not play the Big Easy's annual stop on the PGA Tour.  Woods, 31, last played in New Orleans as a 16-year-old junior golfer at English Turn Golf & Country Club in 1991.

We are pretty fond of Tigers down here, please stop by next year!

Sorry Tiger has been AWOL in New Orleans .... I know it's a big disappointment to his fans in the south. Throughout his career he has been pretty selective about the tournaments he participates in. There are a few others that he never plays, for example the Wyndham Championship (formerly the Greater Greensboro Open/Chrysler Classic) in North Carolina. Still, you can't argue with the success he's had, so I guess he's reluctant to change what's been working. One of the TV golf commentators had an excellent idea: Each time the PGA signs a contract with one of the major TV networks for golf coverage, it is for a specific period of time, for example 5 or 6 years. His proposal was that the PGA require that each golfer participate in every event on the tour at least once over the period of the current TV contract. That would give the golfers plenty of time to plan their schedule for each of the 6 years, and would give the fans in every city that hosts a golf tournament a chance to see all of the top players. I would really like to see the PGA grab this idea and run with it. Unfortunately, because of players' unions, etc, I doubt seriously it will ever happen. They seem reluctant to force the players to do anything.

Yes, people really do care about Sawgrass, I could care less who plays in it and for what reasons.

It's not called the 5th major for nothing, and if you ask the tour players what their favorite tournament is..... I bet over 50% say The Players @ Sawgrass....

tiger WILL be ready to play when he gets back. i think the rest of golf thinks tiger will be easy 1st tourney back. watch out !!  he doesn't play for the hell of it . he plays for keeps. maybe the tv people should give a little extra for showing up for them & their ratings. i know i will WATCH  when he gets back.
