I am far from being a fair weather fan, I have been to many Mets games during the lean years past and present. To paraphrase Led Zep: Good Games, Bad Games you know I have had my share.
- My first game I saw was the day before Tom Seaver had his first start at Shea in 77.
- After the strike, I was at Shea in 1995 when fans ran on the field dropping money on first base.
- I have seen games at Shea where CF patroled by defensive stalwarts: Juan Samuel, Howard Johnson and Keith Miller.
- In 2000, I went to both games of the day night double header, Shea at 1 Doc vrs the Mets and then I saw Piazza get hit in the head at night by Roid Rage.
- In 2003, 2004 & 2005, I saw all Mets-Rockies games when I lived in Denver
This team is so hard to watch. I can't stomach it. My gut tells me not to watch them and you know what I am finally starting listen to it and just walk away. I didn't watch a pitch last night.

Oh come on now...I know it's been an up-and-down season, but this team is still exciting and will have some great runs this year. Yeah, I was going insane at the end of the 1-0 Nationals loss in particular with the baserunning errors, the lack of clutch hitting and so on but that's how it works sometimes.
You have to admit this team is a lot better than pretty much any team they've had since the late 80s. I'd even say that it's better than the 99-00 seasons. You can never play "what if", but really they were a couple of plays away from maybe being in the WS the last couple of years (OK maybe many plays last year, but they were a quality team). Gotta stick it out.

Better maybe on paper
- Delgado- not in his prime
- Castillo- not in his prime
- Reyes- Get him a proctologist, his head is lost somewhere in his ass
- Wright- very inconsistant
- Alou- still can hit the fastball, but hasn't showed much power
- Beltran- only bats 4th because no one else can
- Church, finally a bright spot, is he going to keep this up for 162 games?
- Schneider, he is like the guy with the same name on the old tv show...one day at a time
- Castro, finally a hit!
- Easley- not the same after the injury
- Anderson- not as reliable late in the game as he once was
- Chavez .170 BA!

i agree with ya' jetsguy, it's tough to watch at times, but i think thomasam has the right idea - don't give up on 'em! also, when the Mets are on, they're an exciting team to watch. it was nice to see what they did to the Yankees, that's for sure. gotta hang in there, man...it's a long season.
99 WAS a wicked offensive team! piazza, olerud, ventura, alfonso, SB king - rickey henderson...good point, man. that team was tough!

I agree with you on this. I watched maybe 6 innings total of both games b/c I simply can't stomach the lack of effort, energy, or whatever you want to call it. In 06' I never turned off the tv b/c even when they were losing, you knew they'd put up a great fight and maybe come back to win. Does anyone feel like that with this team? Whatever, I have to start looking for Braves avatars since I know I'm losing that bet over on the Atlanta MB.

Yes this team is hard to watch, I even tell myself that I will not watch them again, but you know what, and what do I do, I always find a way to tune into the games, I cannot turn my back on them...
DaJetsGuy, we will be ok....stick it out with us....I always keep telling myself everything will be ok....just hoping for that one streak we will hit and will win a bunch of games...
Look at the positive, we are only 2.5 games behind the Marlins, yes the Marlins....yeah 4th place, but only 2.5 games back...consider how bad we have played, that isnt too bad...If we were 10 games behind than I would start to worry...but that is not the case...Florida comes to town next week, but 1st the Mets have to take one game, one series at a time...The Braves took two yesterday, they dont have the best home record for no reason, they just play better at home...so be it, if the Mets can somehow take the next two who knows what that may lead too...
