Here's the deal though. The Bears beat the Eagles at home so I think it's pretty fair to say that they are pretty equal in talent.

That's one reason Prisco's rankings don't make sense.  He's got the Eagles at nine and the Texans at 23.  Both had the same record last year and the AFC South was the most competitive division in the game. I know the Eagles had their injuries but the Texans were without Andre Johnson half of the season and Matt Scaub for four games after the cheap hit by punk-ass Marlon McCree.  Plus, both teams drafts were about the same.

Really, the Seahawks need to improve there pass defense ? My memory may be a little hazy (good weed this year) but didn't the Seahawks have the number 1 pass defense last year. I wont say we improved our rush offense until I see them in action but I think we have givin it a helluva try. Number 3 in the NFC is a lot better starting point 4 them .

Very good post, I agree with it for the most part, especially some of the reasonings for ranking them where you did. I actually enjoyed reading your rankings over that other guys, just can't bring myself to say his name... GO Steelers IN '08

The Eagles at 16 tied with the Bills, Panthers, Cardinals, Saints and Bears?!?!?

They are a better team then half of this list.  Better then the Titans, Redskins, Texans, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Vikings.  I could make an arguement for the Browns and Packers, but the Browns have a better offense imo with a great supporting cast for Derek Anderson, and the Packers are up in the air to me because of Aaron Rodgers.  I think he's going to be a good QB, just how it will fair in GB for the long run a season, and not just one game, is yet to be seen.  Eagles D has gotten younger, faster, and stronger...that's not including Asante Samuel at cornerback.  I know that's what everybody is looking at because it's the big name, but you have to see that one for what it is.  Needed a CB who was almost a lock (no one is a lock in the NFL for this) to play all 16 games and they got the best FA on the market for it.  What I like is the additions to the front 7, removal of Takeo Spikes (I liked the guy, but he doesn't help create turnovers or sacks) and you have a proven young LB in Omar Gaither now back on the outside where he played about half the year (briliantly I might add) in '06.  Stewart Bradley whose shown he's a beast now in the middle (though his proven factor is still up in the air), and Chris Gocong opposite of Gaither who showed he's a versatile and quick LB that could also play DE.  Not to mention an awesome pass rusher in Chris Clemons who had 8 sacks while playing PART-TIME, paired up with one of the Top 3 DE's in the league with Trent Cole, and the strong and solid duo of Patterson and Bunkley in the middle, with good depth behind all these guys......the biggest hole on the Eagles D is SS.  I don't care about Dawkins age, he had an off year due to not physically conditioning himself in the offseason.  To make a long story short, he was at his infant daughter's bedside roughly 20 hours a day while she was struggling to stay alive.  That would wear any man down.  He should be better this year.  The Eagles had a good draft and hopefully will play some of their younger talent, especially Trevor Laws in rotation at DT.  Their offense will be Top 10, again for the umpteenth year in a row....and hopefully their defense will be even better to maybe a Top 5.  Their weakness last year was not enough pass rush and poor pass defense (17th overall pass defense coupled with an 8th overall defense) and they addressed the problems perfectly by getting another really good pass rusher, and a Top 3 Cornerback.

16th?!?!? Give me a break.  Their tied for 7-9, minimun.

Oh, and the Bears don't even deserve mention on this list.  They are going to suck this year.

Last year is a poor reason to base placement for this year.  It's all about what a team did poorly, and what they addressed.  Eagles were Top 10 in everything last year except for scoring (need more redzone production), pass rush and pass defense.  This offseason, they've so far addressed 2 of 3 of those things beautifully.  Asante Samuel, Chris Clemons in FA, Trevor Laws in the draft...and it's not time for the 2nd FA to start, so any of those prime WR's still might become availible when the cap hits for a team go down...like the BengalsChad Johnson's hit will drop to about 3mil instead of the 5-8mil on the Bengals, which is a lot more managable.  Eagles aren't done making moves this offseason, you can put money on that.

pretty good. i agree with most of it. I don't think the Giants are the best team in the league. I think they played brilliantly in the playoffs but Patriots, Colts are definitely better teams.

and for what it's worth, I think the Vikings are way too high, the Seahawks are way too low ( below the Vikings!) and a 6 way tie for 16th!??! did you run out of steam? of the SIX choices i'd have the Bears ranked highest, pipping the Eagles.

Just admit your just pissed because your beloved Patriots got caught cheating and will now lose that advantage that they have had since Belichick got there. Now that they can't use they're tapes to know what play the defenses are going call your worried and it shows.
