I really feel its time for Willie to go and I know alot of people feel the same way.
This team is very hard to watch, they play with no intensity, they make mental mistakes, errors, they dont hit with any consistency and Willie doesnt know how to manage the bullpen.
Everything I just stated has got to fall on the lap of the manager, especially the way we finished the season last year. Willie has lost this team, they are too good to be a .500 ballclub. Look at it this way, if you give Tony La Russa, Bobby Cox, Joe Girrardi, this roster there is no way they would play this poorly. Lets make a change before it's too late, we have the players to do something special now, lets get it done.
My first choice to take over is Bobby V, I think the guy is the best in game manager I have ever seen. The problem is he is coaching in Japan, so I dont know if it's possible at this time. I would like to hear some other possibilities.
Lets go Mets.

Bottom line is that we all know that Willie isnt going anywhere anytime soon, Omar has said that he is sticking with his manager and he backs him all the way.
As much as we want to complain about this subject it is getting old, nothing more to say, we also know that it should fall on a manager to get his team ready to play day in and day out. If that isnt the case, anyone of us could go and fill out the lineup card and stand there and look pretty....but one is for sure most of us would argue calls get ejected from games etc, I know I would...
But anyone I suggest I would have to agree with you, bring Bobby V back if something were to happen to Willie..

How can you want HoJo, If you havent noticed he is the batting coach of this heartless team we are talking about. Dont get me wrong I loved HoJo just like everyone else did in the 80's but we need to hire from outside.
How about Buck Schowalter, dont know if I speld it right but I always liked him as a manager.
Lets Go Mets.

Players hate Schowalter...you see players request trades when he is hired.
I'd rather see fans hate the manager (meaning the impatient fans called "willie bashers") then have our players hate their manager...

I agree about fans being impatient. They suck right now but things aren't as bad as they seem, just like they weren't as good as they seemed this weekend.
Enough about people like Showalter anyhow. His track record is miserable. He over-managed the Yankees and then took the Rangers absolutely nowhere. Just because he's a name doesn't make him a good choice.
The same goes for Bobby V, who was bashed for being arrogant and bad at handling the media while he was here. I liked him also, but I'm not sure management wants someone like him back.
I'll say it again--I've said it on other threads. If Willie is

sorry about that...
but as I was saying, if Willie is gone, they're not bringing in a Pinella type. It'll be the same sort of manager. He's doing OK with what he's got but people need to stop with the knee-jerk reactions to every bad stretch, even if it's against the Braves.

My thought with HoJo is that he's managed in the minors, there is no way he can be worse than Willie, he may even understand what a double switch is. I'm not sure you can blame HoJo for the team being past their prime...

"This team is very hard to watch, they play with no intensity, they make mental mistakes, errors, they dont hit with any consistency and Willie doesnt know how to manage the bullpen."
I will concede your managing the bullpen point however if guys are playing with no intensity and making mental mistakes (Reyes is a WALKING mental mistake) maybe it is the players that need replacing and not Willie. I'm sorry but the 1-0 game they lost had nothing to do with "intensity" you can't HIT with "intensity". There are just holes in that lineup that weren't properly addressed in the offseason. But hey Omar went out and got Johan, which means you can lose 1-0 games once every 5 days.
"Look at it this way, if you give Tony La Russa, Bobby Cox, Joe Girrardi, this roster there is no way they would play this poorly. "
JOE GIRARDI????????? Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!! This guy has a lineup that was a playoff team last year and now they are in last place. Joe Girardi is SO overrated. I mean it's great that he had a Marlins team that almost made the playoffs like 5 years ago but he has a similar lineup to the Mets now and that team is in the basement.
What is the fascination with Bobby Valentine???? He had one of the best lineups in baseball with Texas for years and did NOTHING with it. He's in Japan for a reason.

thomasam, Willie sucks, its not about bashing him everytime we go into a slump, how the hell did he keep his job after last seasons colapse anyway. First of all you must not be watching any games if you want to keep Willie around and if they fire him and hire someone else with his demeanor than Omar needs to go too. The Mets have had some of the wost teams in mlb history but they were always fun to watch because they always played hard and we all lovedf them for it. Now its terrible, a roster of allstars that looks like they dont want to be out o | |
