To me, this article touched on a topic that bothers me personally, and that topic is preaching.  Especially when the preaching is done by people who have no right, qualifications, or positive personal history to do so.

Look, I love free speech, but enough is enough sometimes.  I'm an Agnostic Atheist, but out of respect for my fellow man, I keep my ideals to myself, and don't attempt to force them on others, especially those I know would be offended by them.  The same can not be said for most other religions across the world.  Never once has anyone preaching their religion to me taken into account the fact that I might be offended by it.  Athletes are no exception to this rule.  Can you imagine the public backlash that an athlete would have to endure if he spoke about his Atheist beliefs after a game as casually as athletes speak about their Christian beliefs?  I mean my (your) god!  Does the phrase "double standard" come to mind?

So, for those of you offended by this article, now you know how I feel every time someone shoves god down my throat.  It's refreshing to see a reporter, especially one in a sports field, have the guts to challenge this double standard and tell it how it is.

Well done.

Isn't the definition of an "agnostic" one who choses not to have "ideals" about anything.  Its hard to force "I don't know about anything" down someones throat, I know that I would not be offended by it.  Wouldn't be easier to just say, "I'm really not sure about the whole God thing so I chose to believe the easiest thing for me, which is there is no God".

Ignorance about the truth doesn't offend me it depresses me, but you are complaining of a "double standard" when you are an "agnostic" who by definition doesn't have any standard.  Atheistic remarks would be more accepted by the public and wouldn't make news like this does.

You live in a country that was built on the premise of belief in God (check history) not on the disbelief in anything.  If you're tired of hearing about it then maybe you should move to another country that doesn't have God in their constitution.

Until then you are probably just going to have to deal with it.

Sorry

EAM,

Typical response...if you don't believe in God, get the hell out of this country.  And you wonder why people bristle at Christians.  Last I checked, this country was also founded on the premise of slavery.  Should we still abide by that, just becasue it was around in the past?  Also, (check history) this country was here before 1492 and the original religion was Native American.  By your logic we should all be praying to Kokopelli.

And just to let you know, Agnostic just means that you aren't certain about what is beyond this life.  It doesn't mean you have no ideals.  How insulting to say that people who don't believe in God have no ideals!  You can be moral without actually believing in a flying man in the sky.

Nope, it means lack of evidence to support a theory

Its hard to force "I don't know about anything" down someones throat, I know that I would not be offended by it.
Once again, it's not "I don't know about anything", it's "I know so much" that gives me my views.
Ignorance about the truth doesn't offend me it depresses me
Same here.  Just don't be ignorant and maybe your depression will subside.

Actually, basically every sentence and word of your post is wrong.  I could go on, but your not worth it.  Next time, try and educate yourself before posting, save yourself some face, and save the rest of us the minute it took to read your babble.

Wow Manny I really must have upset you, sorry about that.  I love the way people interpret comments that others make, "if you don't believe in God, get the hell out of this country" where exactly did I say that.

We do still practice slavery just in a different format, you know, you go to work everyday punch the clock and at the end of the month you get to feed the family.  Unfortunately our ancestors made a mess of the employee employer relationship and thus the civil war.

"Also, (check history) this country was here before 1492"

If you mean the continent was here then I agree but this country "USA" was not here in 1492.  Think I remember that from 4th grade history.

If you can be "moral" then what I would like to know is where you get your morals.  They had to come from somewhere.  With nothing beyond this life then who cares what we do in this life.
