Aren’t these guys too rich to care about being yelled at?
Maybe it’s more of a way for skippers to portray a certain image in the media – that of the “winning-is-everything”, no-nonsense hard-ass. They could also be trying to protect their job, by showing owners and fans that the team’s reason for losing is definitely not reflective of a lack of enthusiasm at the coaching position.
As a White Sox fan, I’ve seen my share of outbursts, and for the record, I think Ozzie is hilarious. I also think he’s a good coach, but it seems like his tirades have mixed results. Sometimes the team wins five, sometimes they lose a few, sometimes they play .500 ball. It really doesn’t seem to matter what he says... the team will hit and pitch, and win and lose.
