ESPN lists him as a Top150 rating :

Hayward can really run and he is a very good athlete with excellent versatility and range. He will either be a cornerback or wide receiver at the next level and is an excellent prospect at both spots. Has good size and lean bulk. Plays in the backfield as much as he does out wide on offense so he has extensive experience carrying the football. Takes little time to reach top speed and has the burst to drive defensive backs off the line. Is strong for his size, use hands well and does a nice job of breaking the press. Explodes in and out of cuts, uses quick feet to set corners up and is an solid route-runner with upside to become very polished. He is a smooth overall athlete with the ability to glide and accelerate in the open field after the catch. Shows good vision and decisive cutting as a running back and is a slashing type player in space. Runs a bit high, but can cut and pivot with great burst and little wasted motion and is a threat on the perimeter when he bounces plays to the outside. Defensively, Hayward lines up at corner, but could be more of a safety prospect. He can turn and run and has smooth hips, but does not possess sudden lateral quickness to stay low and handle double moves from quicker, smaller WR's in man coverage. He is solid in run support, sheds blockers, will insert and likes to mix it up. Ball skills are very good on both sides of the ball. Hayward needs to settle in at one spot so that he can develop his skills and become the player he is capable of becoming. Very good athlete.

When it rains it pours!  Get in NJ players, the spots are goin fast.  Welcome to the Banks Aaron!  Four 4 stars?  Are you kidding me?  I'm getting giddy here.  Schiano said at signing day that he was really looking forward to this year's recruiting because of the relationships his staff has built.  Once again, a man of his word.

Recruiting is the one piece of the puzzle that's been lagging.  We've got great coaches, developing great players.  But now we're getting the best in the country coming in to be coached and developed.  I can't even imagine what this class is going to look like in a few years.  Congrats to Greg Schiano and staff.

This class is looking absolutely sick.

Hayward is a great talent. I project him as a WR at the next level, not a RB, but either way, we can't go wrong with this kid. He's going to be a stud wherever you put him.

If you guys think our offense was scary last year, imagine what we're going to look like 2,3, 4 years down the line. Hayward, Scott, Savage, Harrison, Jefferson, Stroud, Wright playing behind a line of Davis, Forst, Brazinski, Ruch, etc. That's just sick, and there's more to come!

Rutgers' banner football class for 2009 added another headliner yesterday when Aaron Hayward, one of the state's top running backs but projected to be a wide receiver in college, gave head coach Greg Schiano a verbal commitment, according to rivals.com.

The 6-0, 195-pound Hayward rushed for 1,363 yards and 17 TDs as a junior at Penns Grove High School in Carneys Point last fall. Scout.com rates him as a four-star recruit.

An established track standout, Hayward caught the attention of major football programs when he was named overall MVP of the National Underclassman Combine in Lincoln Park in February 2007.

He ran a 4.55 in the 40 during that combine.

North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia had offered Hayward, who also played safety last fall.
